"In My Life" as written by Lauri Yloenen, Pauli Rantasalmi, Aki Hakala and Eero Heinonen....
Feel the heat below my feet
I have to go, no time to sleep
Can't believe the things you say
I turn my head and walk away
You make me sick, you make me nervous

Times are gone when you would say
This is the one and seize the day
Times are gone for honesty
"My victory is your defeat"
Oh can't you see you've been mistaken

[Chorus:]
In my life I decide and it turns me on
How I am, how I live, who I love
In my way I feel strong
And it turns me on
In my life, I decide, I decide

All you do, you can't deny it,
It's waste of time, waste of time
Can I suggest that you invest in something more than hopelessness
Before you know, the ride is over

[Chorus]

It's up to you if you give it up
It's up to you if you won't stop [Repeat x2]

It's up to you if you give it up, give it up
It's up to you if you won't stop
It's up to you if you give it up, give it up,
It's up to you, it's up to you

The record choose that you're dead but you're still living
Every time you have died you have been given
Another chance to fix your bad attitude
And make a move, it's up to you

It's up to you if you give it up, give it up [Repeat x3]

It's up to you [Repeat x2]

Give it up [Repeat x8]

General CommentThis song is truly inspiring. It reminds me that we can change and do things for ourselves because it's our decision in the end.

General CommentI think it's about someone who took the piss out of him (anyone of them really) and he's saying that he is better than them.
SOMEONE ELSE POST ON THIS ITS A GOOD ONE!!

General CommentI agree, this is a great one.
I think that it is about a friend or lover (I'm assuming its a lover by the way Lauri changes the dynamics to a softer tone on the line 'Who I love'.) who is acting in a way that he doesn't approve, or they are unable to get along with another - 'Times are gone for honesty'. Maybe the other person feels that they are in competition and he wants them to be equal - 'My victory is your defeat'.
He is walking away from the relationship and is saying that he has the power to do so and that he doesn't have to put up with it any more. It leaves the other person with a choice : Change or lose me.
The other person is acting as if they are not inclined to change, 'before you know the ride is over' and he is urging them on to make the change - 'It's up to you if you give it up.'

General CommentI'm afraid you're wrong. This song is about Lauri's life, "In my life I decide". He left school at 16 to be in the band, his family disagreed, and his advice is to do whatever you feel. No matter how hard to have to work for it.

General CommentThis is one of the greatest songs ever. EVER. It's all about making your own choices and being happy with them. I love the line "Can i suggest that you invest in something more than hopelessness
Before you know, the ride is over" because I've lived in depression and hoplesness and it's totally not worth it! You can sit around or do as the songs says because it's "up to you." Almost makes me wanna cry when I think of how much this song could've helped me back then. Oh, well. Live and learn, right?

General CommentI was living the other side of the street Lauri and his family lived 1992-1998. A wooden two-storey house and a little garden. I think the boys had rehearsals there. Their old bus was often parked in the front of the house. I saw Lauri when he was a youngster sometimes daily when I traveled from the northern Helsinki to the downtown and back. He made an impression long before I knew he is in that band with his sometimes yellow, sometimes green punk-style hair combed up with wax like a crown. He was very young those days, in his early teens. I was heard the band´s name and I knew they have growing success in Finland but it was a total surprise for me when I realized this neighbourhood guy is a Rasmus vocalist. I´m very happy seeing them doing well all over the world nowadays.

General CommentDamn, I thought I had a pretty good analysis there.
Fair enough. Glad to see I've struck up a discussion though...
