"Trees (Hallway of Leaves)" as written by and Oscar Rasbach Joyce Kilmer....
It's just beyond those trees
The place I've been dreaming of.
Will you follow me?

Trust me, I know where I'm going.

It's somewhere here within the leaves
There must be some mistake

Trust me, I know where I'm going

We'll cut a path out for us
Through the green seas,
We'll make hallways of leaves

I know it seems it was just some crazy dream
And I know my eyes were closed
But this dream feels more real to me
Than life itself.
My ear is pressed upon this wall,
For behind it is that place.

The door is locked
I'll do whatever it takes

(you have to) Trust me, I know where I'm going.

Will you follow me?
Will you follow me, still?

In the moments that I feel
We're closer than ever before
The world drops out from under our feet.
But I believe the darkest of fights
Prove we're almost there.

There is always something there
to take our hearts like thieves
There is always something there
to take our hearts (But nothing matters.)
There is always something there to take

When we arrive
We will hear
Voices sing,

Nothing matters.
Nothing matters anymore.
Nothing matters anymore, anymore, anymore.

It's beginning to get dark.
But don't worry,
I know where we are,
I know where we are.
Will you follow me, still?

General CommentI guess this song is pretty self-explanatory... In my opinion it is their best song on the album, but they're all so good. Their quality of musicianship is unlike any band i've seen outside the mainstream venue. Hearing an amazing song like this makes the lyrics stand out even more. I really do feel like i'm lost in some forest... making hallways of leaves (such a cool description) and it's beginning to get dark... should i still follow the lead singer? Oh yeah and my absolute fav. part is "the voices say... oooh ohh ohh" yeah you probably need to hear the song b/c those aren't part of the official lyrics. The bottom line is that if you hear this song, you will understand where I'm coming from.

General Commentthis is a beautiful song. i think it's talking about a boy and girl, and they are having problems but he wants to work through it and he is asking her whether or not she would like to follow him on the path to help reconstruct their relationship.
I agree with you speckel, i do feel in a forest and im walking down a winding path.

General CommentFirst of all, the lyrics in my opinion aren't as straightforward as you may think.

"My ear is pressed upon this wall,
For behind it is that place.
    The door is locked...
    I'll do whatever it takes"

The place, judging by their Christianity, is Heaven. And the narrator will do whatever it takes to get there. He has seen it in a dream. He is wondering if this person will follow the path he's chosen as well, assuring them all the way that he/she is sure this is the right path.
At the end of the song, it seems they converse of reaching heaven.:
    When we arrive
    We will hear
    Voices sing.
(these could be the angels, or others who made it)

    Nothing matters.
    Nothing matters anymore.
    Nothing matters anymore, anymore, anymore."

The last stanza I've quoted could mean what the Bible and church teachings tell us- once we get to Heaven, nothing else will matter except God. Our worries will fly off and we'll forever be with him, who is all we need.
Truely beautiful. They speak the Truth.
