Night clubs and night stalkers
Fast women, fast talkers
Loose lips, loose limbs
The lovely loveless
Sunset to sunrise
Black dresses, black eyes
Tangles of tangos
Hot hands, hot thighs

Hey, why can't I ever get to you?
There's a sea of bodies between us
I recall the first time I saw you
Not a dance hall
But a crowded bus
Pressed against the scent of stale sweat

Vampires and witches
Steal bloody red kisses
In go-go boots, Italian suits
They always dress to kill
They spin their umbrellas
They dance tarentella
But I'm not here for them
I only come here to watch you

I want to make your aquaintance
To escort you
To be your gentleman
I want to rub up against you
Like those scoundrels
Like those wolves do
They run in packs in Saabs and SUV's

Oh, these pounding danceclubs
This friction between us
How you throw your body
It's so moving
But never towards me
So I always seem to read between the beat

General CommentNo, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's just about a girl that's a regular at a danceclub that he's infatuated with.

General CommentI love the blur of images in this song. You can almost imagine a drunken fella going bar-hopping and club-hopping, looking for a mystery girl he always sees in the distance but can never actually reach. The chorus is an outlet for pent-up frustration and sexual urges.
