Hey Sweet Annie
Don't take it so bad
You know the summer's coming soon
Though the interstate is choking under salt and dirty sand
And it seems the sun is hiding from the moon

Your daddy told you
When you were a girl
The kind of things that come to those who wait
So give it a rest girl
Take a deep breath girl
And meet me at the Bay State tonight

And the snow is coming down
On our New England town
And it's been falling all day long
What else is new
What could I do
I wrote a valley winter song
To play for you

And late December
Can drag a man down
You feel it deep in your gut
Short days and afternoons spent pottering around
In a dark house with the windows painted shut

Remember New York
Staring outside
As reckless winter made its way
From Staten Island to the Upper West Side
Whiting out our streets along the way

And the snow is coming down
On our New England town
And it's been falling all day long
What else is new
What can I do
But sing this valley winter song
I wrote for you

General Commentwhat a great song...i live in alaska, and the long winters really can get you down. this song is probably the first ever written about seasonal affective disorder,or sad. a condition some people get during the dark winter season when you become depressed due to the lack of light. further proof: look at the first letters of the second, third and fourth words...
    Sweet Annie, Don't = S.A.D. =Seasonal Affective Disorder
just remember: don't take it so bad, you know the summer's coming soon!

General CommentI think this song is great. It kinda summarizes the winter of my senior year, when my GF was away at college. We were just looking fwd to the summer when all the crap would be done with.

I love that line "Your daddy told you, when you were a girl, the kind of things that come to those who wait." I think it's a great lyrical change on the old saying, it forces the listener to do a little bit of work to understand it. I think these guys write great music. Good stuff!

General CommentReally good song... too bad its only gotten 1 comment per year, haha.

I totally feel the whole depressing feeling of winter. Its my favorite season, but it makes me sad at the same time.

General CommentThis song deserves an '08 comment. Its getting cold here in pennsylvania, and soon I'll be counting on this song to remind me that the winter won't last forever.

    General CommentWell, I could wait just a few days and it'd be an '09 comment...but I can't. :p
This is a really great song. I agree with lily(myoneandonly), especially because of this part:

    And late December
    Can drag a man down
You feel it deep in your gut
Short days and afternoons spent pottering around
In a dark house with the windows painted shut

And how he says not to worry, Summer will be here soon. Such a wonderfully sweet song.
