"Lucky You" as written by and Ian/gaze Watkins....
Hey, I see the trees are green again
Maybe this time around, you'll set the trend
Today's the day you'll make your mark, I'm sure
But if you don't, if you don't, then try the next door

But I can't stop you, there you go again
Falling like a star, sinking like a stone
Watching as the world you're in now takes its toll

Brush the dust off and start again, my friend
Next time you'll get it, next time you'll make amends
Tomorrow's children will need a light to shine away
Without you, without you who will tell them to stay?

But I can't stop you, there you go again
Falling like a star, sinking like a stone
Watching as the world you're in now takes its toll

('Cause you are...)
Falling like a star, sinking like a stone
Watching as the world you're in now slowly takes its toll
I don't think you know
I'm so sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry
But you tried, but you tried
But you tried...

Lucky you...

General CommentEveryone take into consideration the movie the track is for. Think about Spider Man's charcter.

You know how he just kind of gives up on being who he is. How he falls, and fails just to be normal and be loved. Just to have the life he's always wanted, and is being selfish in that way.

I think this song would fit towards the end when he realizes he's made a mistake, and put everybody's life in danger. Where he finally realizes the gravity of the fall he's taken, but he gets up again and 'dusts himself off'.

In a sense, when spider man becomes normal, he 'watches the world around him take it's toll' and he doesn't do anything about it. But in his little world 'The trees are green again' in that he's made everything right for him. ANd the part about making amends, he kind of does that with Mary - Jane when he finally attends the play. So I think if you've seen the movie, the lyrics fit perfect with it, but they can also have a double meaning in our own lives. That's why I like the song.
Even though it was mean for a movie, we can all interpret it our own ways. So yeh, Ian Watkins tends to write good songs after watching movies. He wrote 'Rooftops' after watching Gardenstate, now didn't he?

General CommentThis song is about never giving up. "Falling like a star, sinking like a stone" those two lines, to me, represent all the bad times or the times you've failed in your life, but then they tell you that next time you'll get what you want, just keep trying. Never give up. This song is very inspirational.

General CommentI love this song. I tend to agree with superstuped, about having to watch someone you care about just failing and not getting anywhere, just having a horrible time. It's a beautiful song.

General Comment"Falling like a star, sinking like a stone
Watching as the world you're in now slowly takes its toll"

that basically sums up how I feel on those days where all i want to do is go back to bed... when the world becomes too much.

great song. & great soundtrack (spiderman 2)

General CommentI think it goes a little further then someone you care about failing...

I think that the guy writing this song views that person who fails as lucky because they are actually getting off their ass and putting themself out there in a position to fail whereas he is just standing in the shadows and giving mediocre support.

It reminds me of the first time I got dumped... I would watch some of my friends make such idiots out of themselves and get shot down time after time, but what was I doing? I was making every excuse in the book not to meet a new girl, and I was almost envious of my friends who kept trying and kept failing.

It also reminds me of local musicians... the real grinders, who tour 200-250 days a year for minimal pay or glory, but they are putting themselves out there and doing what they love, and sometimes you feel sorry for them because they are living out the back of a van, but at the same time you kind of feel like they are the lucky ones becuase they are trying to do what they love.

    I don't know... that's just waht I get.
