"Amitriptyline" as written by and John Vanderslice....
So long, goodbye
By order of the pasadena court
So long, goodbye
500 milligrams are needed everyday
Held down by a pharmaceutical hand
Are needed everyday
So we can regulate
My uncontrollable rage

Remember me as I was
Too much life
And oh too much love
Last week my lastly stunning stunt
Top tier my jumping chandelier

That's why I'm here
Amitriptyline

I was a quiet lunchbox lonely little boy
Reading sci-fi broken treehouse on the shore
At nineteen the talking in my head
Got harder to understand
No work, no school, drifting, a failing satellite
Don't feel sorry for me I've been happy too
Manic, kindly, blinding, high-res euphoria

Please remember me as I was
The crowning dove
The clowning judge
Sad king alone in the western wing
Holding foe's laughing, severed head

That's why I'm here
Amitriptyline

General CommentOne of my most favorite songs ever. The version I have starts with someone saying "This is a new song, it's called Amitriptyline... It's our narrator's goodbye to the world 'cause he's about to go on antidepressants... by court order." That made me laugh, but it's actually a very serious song. I wish I knew what the sad king with the laughing foe's head meant.

General CommentAmitriptyline is not prescribe anymore on this dose "500 mg" because there are too many bad effects. I am on ami too and when I heard that song for the first time I tought my doctor did not tell me I was creazy; I am also on methadon. But because I have only 50mg/day, that help me to stop my migrains. If I forget it one time, I've got a migrain the day after. It is really strong. And as the methadon, it gives you the eternal need to eat sugar.
