I met a member of Generation X
Said "What's in with you kids these days?
I'm so old I'll probably never have heard of it"-
And then he said, "Purple Haze."

Now I know that we should separate our garbage-
The environment'll give us thanks;
But it's going to far when teenagers re-cycle
Their parents' adolescent angst.
Do you want to save the world?
Don't recycle.

Monday night is 50's night;
Tuesday night is 60's night;
Wednesday night is 70's night;
Friday night is Thursday night.

Paul McCartney once said that the Sex Pistols
Were another band doin' Chuck Berry;
At the time I thought, "You boring old wanker",
But now I thik it's downright scary.

Do you want to save the world?
Don't recycle garbage

    General CommentThis song is a joke, they dont litterally mean "dont recycle" they are saying done re-listen to old songs from the past (E.G. Purple Haze) which are shit.

    My InterpretationIt's about the lack of "new" music: both listening to old tunes so much that nobody is making new ones, and that the new ones are just 'copying' old styles to appear new. A verse that's sometimes sung but isn't here in the lyrics is "What's so good about the sixties, that we gotta keep rewindin' the clock? / You know the best thing about the sixties? They never heard of classic rock." pretty much confirms it.

    The superficial idea behind it is to know when to recycle your garbage: i.e., it's good to re-do some things, but there comes a point where you can't re-use it any more and you just throw it away, because it's garbage, junk, strictly refuse, rubbish.
