"The Things I Love in You" as written by and Don Walker....
Sittin' on the corner drinkin' my beer
Told all the others Happy New Year
Told everybody some things
I knew
I knew
Doesn't really matter anymore
Never really mattered anyway
Only I do wonder how you'd feel
If it were you
In my shoes

Could you change, I wonder
If you knew
All the things I love in you

If I had a dollar for every time
I hung out on the corner doin' time
While you showed another through all
All the things i love

Could you change I wonder
If you new
All the things I love in you

General CommentHugely underated song, which I think many people mistake as a bit of a soppy love song.

It's sung from the point of view of a guy who's still obsessed with his ex girlfriend, to the point of being a stalker.

The first couple of verses paint the picture of the guy (possibly an alcoholic) trying to come to terms with the break up and there is an evident bitterness in his words (in one line things don't matter anymore, but in the next he's asking the girl to put herself in his shoes).

The final verse (from "if I had a dollar....") is the real clincher of the song, with the darkness of the lyrics really being emphasised by a great keychange up to Eminor. In this verse the guy is possibly standing outside the bedroom window of the ex, while she is banging some other dude. The line "If I had a dollar for every time, I hung out on the corner doing time" shows that this is not a one off and although his statement that he is doing time paints himself as a victim, the listener gets the impression this guy really is a crazy.

Upon first hearing this song I wasn't overly impressed, and thought this was far from one of Don Walkers best. However, upon understanding the lyrics it made a lot more sense and amazes me that so few lyrics paint such a detailed picture of the thoughts and actions of this crazy guy being portrayed.
