"I Wwish You'd Stay" as written by and Brad/dubois Paisley....
I talked to my sister in Memphis
And told her you were movin' to town
Here's her number
She said she'd be glad to show you around

I left a map on your front seat
Just in case you lose your way
But don't worry, once you reach Sallisaw
It's all Interstate

I know you need to go
But before you do I want you to know, that I

Wish you the best
And I wish you nothing less
Than every thing you've ever dreamed of
And I hope that you find love along the way
But most of all
I wish you'd stay

I figure right about sundown
You'll be in west Tennessee
And by then
Maybe I'll understand why you had to leave

I know that you've done some changin'
And I know there's no changin' your mind
And yes I know
We've been through this a thousand times

I'm sorry for still holdin' on
I'll try to let go and I'll try to be strong, and I'll

Wish you the best
And I wish you nothing less
Than every thing you've ever dreamed of
And I hope that you find love along the way
But most of all
I wish you'd stay

Yeah everything you've ever dreamed of
And I hope that you'll find love along the way
But most of all
I wish you'd stay
I wish you'd stay

General CommentI can't believe no one has commented on this song. I love it. At first I thought it was about a girl and a guy who broke up and the girl is leaving him. But after seeing the music video I found out that it is about people moving on in life and how you need to let go of them so they can be happy and live their own lives. I love this song so much.

General CommentAfter this week this song really hits me... My girlfriend is moving back to her dad's house because she doesn't like the way things are with her family now... and it's completely her choice. She loves her friends and some family here. But her mom's boyfriend is making her want to leave. Now she's gonna live 2 and a half hours away... and the most we'll see each other is every other weekend... So this song kind've hurts right now... And that's basically what I think it means too. Good song though. Love it.

General CommentI want it to be about a boy and a girl in love but I have this deep gut feeling he is singing this song to a daughter, i think she is going away to college or something close and he wants her to go find love and be happy where she needs to be...thats just a guess.

General CommentDoes anyone agree that Brad Paisleys lyrics are just perfect!
This song is lovely but sad at the same time, i think its about somebody who has to let their friend go but really doesnt want to say goodbye, i love the way he hopes them the best but then says i wish youd stay.

    Love it :)

General CommentI have this song on repeat right now. I don't know the actual meaning of the song but I know what it means to me.

I'm 26 years old and I've been a playboy my entire life. I've never been in a relationship that lasted more than 6 weeks; I've never even had a broken heart, at times I’ve actually worried that I would never meet anyone I’d give a crap about enough to even miss her when she’s not around. I just went from one girl to the other. My friends and family constantly make jokes about them being “the flavor of the week”.

But I recently met someone and for the first time in my life I wasn’t trying to play her, I didn’t look at it as a race to see how fast I could get in her pants and then never talk to her again. I was actually interested in her as a person. She told me on the night we met that she was moving to L.A. in a couple of months so I knew right away it was a bad idea to get involved but we had a pretty instant connection and I just kept seeing her, I’ve gotten to know her and started to really like her. I actually care about her, not the fake “care” that you do when you’re trying to get a girl to sleep with you but real genuine care. I haven’t tried to talk her into staying because she already had those plans long before I came along.

This sucks. I finally find someone to care about and she’s leaving. The date at which she’s leaving is fast approaching and I know how bad it’s going to hurt. It’s like a train wreck I can see coming but can’t stop.

    I wish she’d stay…

MemoryI recently had reconnected with a friend after a few months of not talking to her. She was going to be moving to Chicago in a few weeks and I was sad about the prospect of losing her again after finally reconnecting. I had feelings for this girl and wanted to make sure she left knowing how much I cared about her and our friendship. Two nights before she left, I handed her a CD with one song on it...this one. I told her that she couldn't listen to it until she was on Interstate the day she left. I remember waking up that morning to two texts from her. The first one told me that she put the CD in and the second said that she was "bawling." She no longer talks to me and a part of me still misses her. This song still reminds me of her and that moment.
