"Sooner or Later" as written by John Charles Lodge and Justin Hayward....
I want a normal life
Just like a newborn child
I am a lover-hater
I am an instigator
You are an oversight
Don't try to compromise
I learn to love to hate it
I am not integrated

Just call my name
You'll be okay
Your scream is burning through my veins

Sooner or later
You're gonna hate it
Go ahead and throw your life away
Driving me under
Leaving me out there
Go ahead and throw your life away

You're like an infantile
I knew it all the while
You sit and try to play me
Just like you see on TV
I am an oversight
Just like a parasite
Why am I so pathetic
I know you won't forget it

Just call my name
You'll be okay
Your scream is burning through my veins

Sooner or later
You're gonna hate it
Go ahead and throw my life away
Driving me under
Leaving me out there
Go ahead and throw my life away

Sooner or later
You're gonna hate it
Go ahead and throw our life away
Driving me under
Leaving me out there
Go ahead and throw our life away

Throw our life away
Throw our life away

General CommentI really like the line "Your scream is burning through my veins". I also like how the song progresses from "your life" to "my life" to "our life".

General Commentreguardless, the song is the most powerful on the record. easily my favorite.
to me, i think it's about an infatuation that leads to intense feeling and attachment. i think that one of the two participants withdraws because of the probable vulnerability that the attraction is causing. kind of like one of the two people decides to walk away before things get worse. "sooner or later, your gonna hate it".
i think the point is that maybe it's best to walk away during the height of a relationship before things head downhill and get hurtful.
    just my interpretation....

General CommentI feel like this song is about a couple that used to be so in love, but the girl has started falling for someone else, cheated, and has broken up with her original boyfriend. the lines, "I am a lover-hater" and "I learn to love to hate it" feel to me like he is bitter now, because the one person who probably promised she'd never leave has completely changed.
This is my interpretation of the lines: "just call my name, you'll be ok,"-he knows that even though she doesn't love him anymore, he knows her better than anyone, and he still cares. This is him being the bigger man, saying "even though you've hurt me, just tell me, and i will do all i can to help.
"your screams are burning through my veins" -she's hurting yourself by running off with this other guy, but she did it to herself, so now he must stand idly by and watch her go down in flames. He knows he can help, but he knows he shouldn't.
"sooner or later, you're gonna hate it."-this is him pretending to be indifferent about her leaving, to upset her, but he only ACTS this way.
    "you're like an infantile
I knew it all the while."- now comes the rage. He is angry about how she has hurt him, and left him when they both promised they'd be together for ever. He is lashing out, trying to hurt her.
    I also feel that this is the meaning of the progression of "your life, my life, our life";
Your life-at first he is in shock and disbelief, saying "you're going to throw your life in the trash, do t you understand what you are doing??"

My life- he is angry now, and feels wrong, "you're not just throwing away your life, but mine too!!"

Our life- he has begun to accept that, stupid decision or not, she has made a decision, and she isn't coming back.
It's not even anger anymore, he knows that one day she will realize that she has screwed up by leaving him.

General CommentBURNLEY: "It's about being not right. Looking at people that have everyday jobs and do normal things and you are grateful for being a musician but at the same time you want to not tour, you want to go to a job, do your job, and come home to your wife and kids kind of thing, you know?"

General Commenti agree with cyanide - something like that at least. like it's so completely great-the relationship,i mean. it's lustful, full of love, never boring-and all that makes up at the moment for the bigger picture- sooner or later - you're gonna hate it.and they know that. but he's leaving it up to his partner - it's up to you to break up now or later . so go ahead and be selfish and throw "my/your/our" life away.

General Commentomg i met the bb at x-fest!! (scream like a girl) it takes something dramatic to make the best things. waking up is the greatest thing in the world. realizing what situation you are in lets you determine what you want in life. sounds like this relationship was about lust then later turned into attachment.having friends with benefits aren't always the best thing to have. some people actually have feelings and this is what ben meant by "go ahead and throw our life away" and "driving me under" means don't let anyone know about what is going on between us. in ways this song is shallow, and in others it hits home to me. god i love breaking benjamin!!

General CommentIn my opinion the song is not about wanting out of a relationship, but rather not wanting out of it. I see it as the other person wants out of the relationship to be free and live a single life, and the singer knows that this person will have fun at first maybe, but will eventually start to feel lonely and hate it. He's angry at the other person and says "throw your life away" go ahead and do what you want, it's your life. But it also hurts him, since the other person is just tossing him aside like he never mattered - "throw my life away." and "throw our life away" is throw the whole relationship away.

General CommentI think it's about , like a lot of people said, a relationship, and it's going so well, but sooner or later, one of the two will hate having it going so well. Great song, beautiful meaning. Diary of Jane too.

General Commenti think this song is about a girl getting ready to start a relationship with another dude and if she goes through with it, it seems like its going to ruin everything for the guy she was with before. and he's kinda trying to tell her that the new guy is a huge mistake and that she is not gonna be happy and neither will the singer. but based on what everyone else is saying i think i'm wrong
