"Closer" as written by Steven Alexander Brett, Stuart Brian Connor, Stuart Hughes and Matthew Dick....
So leave your taxi waiting
And turn and close my door
You sit back down where you were sitting
A little closer than before

And when you look that serious
It just makes me want you more
And I've been meaning to tell you:

The closer you get,
The better I feel
The closer you are,
The more I see
Why everyone says
That I look happier
When you're around
The closer you get,
The better I feel

And yes, I know you're nervous
Never seen you so unsure
You haven't touched your food tonight
And you're drinking more and more
And there's no need to hurry
Take your time, I'll still be here
And I've been meaning to tell you:

The closer you get,
The better I feel
The closer you are,
The more I see
Why everyone says
That I look happier
When you're around
The better I feel

The closer you get,
The better you see
The closer you are,
The more I see
Why everyone says
That I look happier
When you're around
The closer you get,
The better I feel
The better I feel

We've been circling for time, baby,
We're coming down to land tonight
The wait is over, now it's easy
Everything's fine

The closer you get,
The better I feel
The closer you are,
The more I see
Why everyone says
That I look happier
When you're around
The better I feel

The closer you get,
The better you see
The closer you are,
The more I see
Why everyone says
That I look happier
When you're around
The closer you get,
The better I feel

General CommentThis song makes me think of when I first started going out with my boyfriend. I'm super shy around him even though I want to tell him that I really do love him.
I agree w Novartza on the idea that her boyfriend is unsure whether she really loves him or not, but she really does. It seems to me like this this is almost internal dialogue, like this is what shes thinking. But i always think about this when my boyfriend holds me...the closer w get the better I really do feel...even if we're both a little nervous, but thats ok.

General CommentThis song is a bonus (aka "ghost") track on Dido's new album, "Life For Rent." It's the most beautiful song of this album IMHO.

Her bf seems to be touchy and nervous. Perhaps he's unsure of their relationship and of her feelings toward him. She reassures him that it's alright and that she wants him closer.

General CommentIt's about a friendship that's developing into something more, but he's not entirely sure she feels the same way.

General CommentWhat a great song. Being that it is a "ghost track," I wonder if it was added at the last minute. It is a very simple song--yet beautiful.

General Commenthe's leaving. going far, far away, but he's come back to see her one last time before he goes. it's ironic that "there's no need to hurry; take your time, i'll still be here" because he won't be.
she knows he has to go. he hasn't told her in so many words, but he's serious and they both know that it's now. she won't accept it and wants it to last forever.
she's been meaning to tell him, but now she won't ever be able to because he's gone.

General CommentI agree that it's a friendship, developing into more. I think outside influences have forced them to admit that they have more than they were willing to admit, and now they are facing their feelings head on.

General CommentI believe it was hidden because if you hear Closer and Angel by Sarah MacLachan it has a similar beginning in tone and whole song. The beginning of guitar sound like piano from Angel

Maybe to do with copyright laws.

    So leave your taxi waiting
And turn and close my door
You sit back down where you were sitting
    A little closer than before

    Spend all your time waiting
    For that second chance
For a break that would make it okay
    There’s always one reason
