"Different But the Same" as written by and A. Johansson A. Rajkovic....
There's no time to phone home
When you're racin', you're on time
You contemplate, you gotta wait your own turn

Up the noise with some poison, with great poise
You can't compare it too, or let it scare you through
If everything you do is not as smoothly as we planned
You gotta understand:
There is more for you.
But all you gotta do, ooh

Is put yourself with the people
They're the ones who make the world spin
Lust in favor, you can win.

And you'll take home the gold medallion
And ride the wobbly wave of fame.
That is why you came
That is why you

Came to your senses
To feel it out
And try to kill off every dial
Your mother worries, but no one worries quite like you.
And when you start you must rely on your own heart.
Cause nothing works the same or takes the blame or wins the game
With your head in your hands in the pouring rain
I want to see you as you are.
Like a lonely star.
There is more for you.
But all you gotta do, ooh

Is put yourself with the people.
They're the ones who make the world spin.
Lust in favor, you can win.

And you'll take home the gold medallion.
And ride the wobbly wave of fame.
That is why you came.
That is why you came.

You gotta be so strong
You gotta teach your son
How to stand up straight
When you want to run
How to carry on
How to be yourself
To be different, but the same.

That is why you came.

General CommentThis is an awesome song. It's really inspirational. It can really pick you up when you're in one of those "I'm a failure" moods...Yeah, Ben Kweller rules.

General CommentIt's all about changing yourself for the better. You're different because you've gotten rid of all your problems, but you've retained all your positive aspects, so you're still the same.

General CommentThis song is so happy sometimes it makes me mad. But I still love it.

"Your mother worries but no one worries quite like you."

    ^ I love that line.

What a great message-- corny, but great. Basically, what I get is stop worrying, just relax and enjoy life like everyone else. Once you stop stressing out you'll finally achieve everything you're worrying about.

General CommentI think this song is about how everyone strives to be like the majority, people try to fit in with society and he says put yourself with the people there the ones that make the world spin, he says once you do this you'll take home the gold medallion and ride the wobbly wave of fame, meaning riding your wobbly popularity but you have to try to be different and the same simultaniously

General CommentI've taken the song to be about being successful in the music industry. Sort of about not wanting to sacrifice yourself, but also wanting to get enough listeners. At least that's what I've taken by the "wobbly wave of fame" comment. Since "Wasted & Ready" I don't think Ben has gotten much mainstream success, but obviously he has become an indie success. So he's gone from radio, MTV, and late-night shows to being fairly unknown except to those of us who seek him out.

General CommentI think it's about people who try to be different and single themselves out, and he's saying you'll be happy if you just 'put yourself with the people'.
