"Mean Thoughts and Cheap Shots" as written by and Bryce Avary....
I'm not losing my war that's in my mind
And I will spread my wings and soar
And I will fly and no, I will never deny
What's in my heart, what's in my life, will be justified

The mean thoughts and cheap shots
They will not weaken me
The mean thoughts and cheap shots
Will weaken me, that's for sure

And I won't be afraid of taking this out
I know I'll be safe and sound
'Cause you will be with me
Fighting in all these rounds

And I'll shout out so loud
I know without a doubt
That I'll be standing there when you go down
'Cause all these things I've seen

Well, now I'll try my best
And you will be with me to never second guess
And we will show the world just how we passed this test
And we will show the world we're better than this mess

'Cause I'm not losing my war that's in my mind
And I will spread my wings and soar
And I will fly and no, I will never deny
What's in my heart, what's in my life, will be justified

The mean thoughts and cheap shots
They will not weaken me
The mean thoughts and cheap shots
Well, we're not weakening, that's for sure

The mean thoughts and cheap shots
And mean lies and mean plots
And mean thoughts and cheap shots
Won't last for long

'Cause all these things I've seen, well, now I'll try my best
And you will be with me to never second guess
And we will show the world just how we passed this test
And we will show the world we're better than this mess

'Cause I'm not losing my war that's in my mind
And I will spread my wings and soar
Because I will fly and no, I will never deny
What's in my heart, what's in my life, will be justified

The mean thoughts and cheap shots
They will not weaken me
The mean thoughts and cheap shots
Well, we're not weakening, that's for sure

The mean thoughts and cheap shots
And mean lies and mean plots
And mean thoughts and cheap shots
Won't last for long

General CommentI think that Bryce is with someone that society rejects, but together they can take on the world. He is a strong enough person to overcome any adversity he will face as a result of whatever has caused it, and he refuses to lose "the war that's in his mind"

General CommentI just thought it was about saying nobody can critsize him because he refuses to listen to them

Just a really big confidence boost..Like he's saying "I like my life, and I don't care what you say about me because I know how great everything really is"

General CommentI was told that it was about spiritual warfare. Which I can see it being about that. Bryce is a Christian and all.
But, *shrugs* I dunno. That's just my thought.

Song MeaningTo me, this song is about standing up for what you believe in and not backing down when other people try to tell you that your stance is "stupid" or wrong or whatever. Just like he says, "the mean thoughts and cheap shots they will not weaken me". He isn't going to change his standards because other people are pressuring him to be like them. I love this song, it's so catchy, and it has a very upbeat, inspiring message.
