"Know This X" as written by and Ken Susi John Maggard....
This time I'll take every word with a grain of salt and stare you down.
One day you'll learn what a promise really is and the meaning of pride.
Go ahead and X up.
Straight Edge for a while.
A crooked X for that crooked smile.
A new trend.
A new start.
The X on your hand will never be there in you heart.
I am Straight Edge.

General CommentI've tended to notice that with CJ. Very in-your-face, which is perfectly fine, but like mentioned, semi-elitist. My way or the highway. That being said, this was my first introduction to them and I liked it very much. I dig his vocals alot. I don't always agree with the lyrics, but to each his own.

General Comment"I don't always agree with the lyrics."

Just to clarify, I didn't mean that in a "Let's go get drunk/stoned!" way at all. I'm very much against that, I just meant their approach at being anti-that sometimes. Anyways, I'm rambling and I'm sure my whole point has been lost.

    Good song, though.

General CommentI was just lisetening to this song today and I heard for the first time the lyric "Straight-edge for a while, a crooked-edge for that crooked smile" and it really hit me.

I decided a couple of weeks back to try out straight-edge to see if it was right for me. I despise smoking, pills and pot and I have never been a "heavy" drinker. So I decided to give up alcohol for a month and see how it went. The month is almost over and I'm still not sure, the thing is I've been really depressed at parties I go to now that I'm not drinking, not to say that alcohol stops depression, but it's as though I don't notice the things that depress me.

So I'm not sure if I'm gonna actually go straight-edge for life, but then I heard that line and I feel like such a fraud...

I think I'll keep the whole no alcohol thing going for even longer just to see if it gets better in the long run, because besides alcohol everything about SxE suits me perfectly.

This song has affected me hugely.

The lyrics are self-explanatory, but the meaning I received is profound.

General Comment...i was just reading the comments the other people left.. and. Wow. If your going to just "try" to be edge.. your stupid.. Your forgetting the whole meaning to it. Its more than 3 x's.. Its a way of life..You dont wake up 1 morning and decide you want to be Edge.. No. Just like in the song.. Its got to be there in your heart.

General Commentstraightedge is a lifestyle, for those who are trying to get rid of all the hatred of drugs/alcohol and other shit that people put into this world by fucking themselves up.

i think, if you truly want to be edge, you have to fuck up.
you have to live life, you have to know the reasons you don't want to do it, you don't not do it because you know it is wrong, you do it because it isn't your lifestyle, you want to live a life of purity and being yourself, being the person you believe you should be.

General Commentim not straight edge or anything but i really respect the people who do it for the right reasons and do it for themselves. i think this song is basically saying screw those people who dont do it for the right reasons.

btw, xtragicx, thanks for explainin it to me cos ive never been able to think of a decent reason why people would unless it was for attention or somethin.
