"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
Seek me, call me, I'll be waiting
Seek me, call me, I'll be waiting
This distance, this disillusion
I cling to memories while falling
Sleep brings release and the hope of a new day
Waking the misery of being without you
Surrender, I give in
Another moment is another eternity
(Seek me) for comfort
(Call me) for solace
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
(Seek me) completion
(Call me) I'll be waiting
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
You know me, you know me all to well
My only desire
To bridge our division
In sorrow, I speak your name
And my voice mirrors, mirrors my torment
(Seek me) for comfort
(Call me) for solace
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
(Seek me) completion
(Call me) I'll be waiting
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
Am I breathing?
My strength fails me
Your picture
A bitter memory, yeah
For comfort, for solace
(Seek me) for comfort
(Call me) for solace
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
Seek me, call me, I'll be waiting
This distance, this disillusion
I cling to memories while falling
Sleep brings release and the hope of a new day
Waking the misery of being without you
Surrender, I give in
Another moment is another eternity
(Seek me) for comfort
(Call me) for solace
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
(Seek me) completion
(Call me) I'll be waiting
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
You know me, you know me all to well
My only desire
To bridge our division
In sorrow, I speak your name
And my voice mirrors, mirrors my torment
(Seek me) for comfort
(Call me) for solace
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
(Seek me) completion
(Call me) I'll be waiting
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart
Am I breathing?
My strength fails me
Your picture
A bitter memory, yeah
For comfort, for solace
(Seek me) for comfort
(Call me) for solace
(I'll be waiting) for the end of my broken heart

The Night We Met
Lord Huron

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Having listened to this album for so long, I have forgotten all life without it, I can say with all certainty, that this is my favorite song off the album.
It's about having just broken up with someone and feeling incomplete. Its about how while you are still hung up on someone, the only peace you get is while you are asleep, and that you spend every waking hour hoping that the phone will ring...
Howard Jones is fucking amazing and if he ever asked me to let him do me, I would...
lmao @ "Howard Jones is fucking amazing and if he ever asked me to let him do me, I would... "
I don't agree with this, but I do agree that everybody has their own interpretation, and I respect that. This song is amazing no matter how you interpret it.
@quiffporn Absolutely inaccurate. See comments below for what this song is really about.
This song is totally about a conversation between GOD and a person who's deeply depressed and broken hearted, in need of a helper:
GOD: Seek me, call me. I'll be waiting.
PERSON: This distance, this dissolution. I cling to memories while falling. Sleep brings release and the hope of a new day. Waking the misery of being without you. Surrender, i give in. Another moment is another eternity.
GOD: Seek me for comfort, call me for solace. PERSON: I'll be waiting for the end of my broken heart. GOD: Seek me, completion, call me, i'll be waiting. PERSON: I'll be waiting for the end of my broken heart.
PERSON: You know me, you know me all too well. My only desire to bridge our division. In sorrow, i speak your name. And my voice mirrors, mirrors my torment.
PERSON: Am i breathing, my strength fails me. Your picture, a bitter memory.
For comfort, for solace. For the end of my broken heart...
@Marco! <br /> YES! I saw so many people commenting that it's about heartbreak between two lovers, and I used to think this too. I remember when it finally hit me that it's a conversation between a man and GOD. I was going to write this, but you already did. Awesome song.
@Marco! I agree
@Marco! Nailed it bro! Nailed it! First time I heard this song...I was like hold on..."Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be open unto you" -- Matthew 7:7. You said it all in your break down but indeed Jesus Christ is the mender of broken hearts and He never gives up on us even unto the Final Hour. He Reigns in Glory and Truth.
This song is too amazing. It's like... I have never been in a relationship, but I feel every word of this song. I feel every emotion as if this sort of thing has happened to me. For me, that's what music should be. It should a universal language that can be understood by anyone and everyone, regardless of whether you can relate to it or not.
That's why "End of Heartache" rates as one of my favourite songs ever.
I really agree with you. It is a song about a person without love.
I don't see the song so much as a break up song. I can see that point. I'm in a long distance relationship, and this song perfectly explains the feeling of being separated from someone you love, and looking forward to be with them again. For me, it's about having to deal with the pain of being apart until you can be together again.
Loved this song ever since I 1st heard it at the end of the Resident Evil II movie.
Such smooth lyrics and his voice is awesome!
Totally have had my heart broken before, and I don't believe that the heartache ever ends, no matter how much you try to move on, who you meet, some girls just can't be replaced. I feel like I am still waiting for someone who has hurt me...
very well said
this stuff makes me /die . his voice is so full! this is border line power-anthem which makes it incredible
HE has thee best vocals in this type of music, this is the main reason why i listen to them i just cant get enough !
guiffporn he fucking hit on the head man i just broke up with my woman and this is the only song that helps
This IS my favourite KSE song. My favourite song of all time too. It reminds me of a girl I know and am inspired by, she recently broke up from a serious relationship, and it makes me think of her everytime I hear it. Since we're good friends, it's kinda like her pain is my pain. So this song helps me deal with her pain and through it I provide her comfort.
This song totally blew me away the very first time I heard it, even though KSE now have a new vocalist I think they're still an amazing band and I really do love their new album.
