"Wishbone" as written by and Fallon/sult/maines/gaster....
For Thanksgiving we had 'tatas,
Succotash and rutabagas.
Then came turkey from the oven.
Broke the wishbone.
Covenants were sealed and set.

On the losing end of a wishbone,
And I won't pretend not to mind.

Christmas Eve we ate at Aunty's.
We had some ham glazed with honey.
Rolled the Yule log on the fire.
Threw the hambone to the dogs and went to bed.

On the losing end of a wishbone,
And I won't pretend not to mind.

In the morning the weathercock was heard
Asking what we had learned of the Earth.
"Is it a round place with deserts and oceans,
Housing as many winds as one might wish?"

We were standing by the gate.
He said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"
Then he took off flying to the south
With a black snake in his mouth.

You can shake it, break it, or glue it whole,
No two ways about it with a broke wishbone
On the losing end.

For St. Patrick's we had cabbage,
Corned beef stew, egg salad sandwich.
Then came whiskey from the basement.
Danced all night into the dawn,
Then held our heads.

On the losing end of a wishbone,
And I won't pretend not to mind.

General CommentThis is one of my favourite Clutch songs of all time. The groove/funk of the verses and the heavyness of the chorus just make for a killer song.

On the 'Elephant Riders' enhancement, Neil says that this song originally was a lot longer lyrically, and was about someone who made a wish on a wishbone for their life to be more interesting. Then it started raining black snakes and things (just because there were a lot of black snakes in the band's crappy house at that time). Then the weather cock flew off and came back and told them about the earth...anyway, since all that's been cut out now, the song doesn't make a lot of sense anymore. It's just random.

General CommentYeah, I think, Elephant Riders is my fav album, I think. Clutch is up there. Pure Rock Fury is great, and Beale Street...is awesome, right now. IDK, I'll have to wait and see.

General CommentHuh. And here I thought the song was about a blacksheep and how he'll always be one no matter what he tries.
