Christ He Didn't Know He Was Condemned
Christ He Didn't Know With God's Intend
Christ He Didn't Know He Had The Will
Christ He Didn't Know He Saw The Hill

Golgotha
They All Knew Golgotha

Christ Had Died At Last He Gave The Most
Christ Had Died At Last The Holy Ghost
Christ Had Died At Last He Had The Will
Christ Had Died At Last He Saw The Hill

Golgotha
They All Knew Golgotha

Oh Christ Oh Christ You Were Condemned
To Die On Roman's Cross At End Pilatus He Had Not The Will
To Send The Right Man To The Hill
So He Was Nailed Like Ugly Scum
To Trunks Of Shame The Carpenters Done
And He Screamed Out I Had The Will
But Father Left Me On The Hill

Oh Christ You Are A Lunatic
Oh Christ You're Just A Lunatic
Go On Scream Out You Had The Will
To Die For Us Upon The Hill

Golgotha
They All Knew Golgotha

General CommentThis song is obviously about Christ being crucified. Golgotha is the place where they tried him, and is translated in Hebrew as "High Ground" or "Holy Ground".
Fucking great song, both lyrically and musically.

General CommentThis is an awesome track. It's criticisms of christianity are first rate compared to so many other groups and tracks whose best lines they can come up with is "There is no god" or similar. Refreshing to have meaningful lyrics as well as an awesome track musically.

General Commentgolgotha is not the place where they tried christ, it's where they crucified him after he was tried and it does not translate into "high ground" or "holy ground" it translates into "the place of the skull"

Whenever I hear those lines I get the same reaction... "oh, snap.". Takes balls to say something like that.

General CommentPretty straightforward take on the crucifixion of Christ. That last verse looks like a dismissal of the promises of the crucifixion, but when you take it in the context of all :Rudi:'s work, it's slightly more complicated.

He's got a complicated relationship with religion. He often sounds like he's denouncing it, and probably is sincere. At the same time, lots of lyrics reveal that he is strongly driven by the longings that Christianity claims it can satisfy, not to mention the pains it claims to cure.

So, the last verse may not be him speaking, but may be coming from those who brought about or aided the crucifixion.
