"I Found a Reason (Velvet Underground cover)" as written by and Lou Reed....
Oh I do believe
In all the things you say
What comes is better than what came before

And you'd better come come, come come to me
Better come come, come come to me
Better run, run run, run run to me
Better come

Oh I do believe
In all the things you say
What comes is better that what came before

And you'd better run run, run run to me
Better run, run run, run run to me
Better come, come come, come come to me
You'd better run

General Commentwhen she says "you'd better come/run to me", its like shes asking the good things that are supposed to be coming to come already.
it sounds like its been too long since something good was last there.
and i can really dig that right now.
    its been far too long.

General CommentMmkay, I'm gonna put how this ties to V's inner conflict, just because that's what this song always reminds me of.

V's waiting for Evey to return to him before the 5th. He's second-guessing whether he should go through with it, because he knows he's going to die. He doesn't want to die yet, because he found someone he loves. But, he's convincing himself that he needs to go through with it ("What comes is better than what came before"). So, he's just wishing that she'll come through with her promise, and come to see him one last time before he dies.

On a personal note, this song reminds me of a mutual break-up. They decided that the situation wasn't good for a relationship, and they should hold off on being together. But, the narrarator is wondering if it was the right thing, and if they're really gonna get together after all.

General Commentwords can not explain what cat power/chan marshall means to me. this is my absolute favorite song of hers. it was always the song i associated with my ex-boyfriend...from the very beginning....until the end...and still.

    Oh I do believe
In all the things you've seen
What comes is better than what came before

...he was so damaged from his childhood and i always wanted him to know that i heard everything he told me. and that things could be better than what he had always known as reality.

And you'd better come come, come come to me
Better come come, come come to me
Better run, run run, run run to me
    Better come

...and i could take him in my arms and make it all go away. if he could just trust that i could.

    Oh I do believe
In all the things you see
What comes is better that what came before

...and i understand what he still goes through on a daily basis

And you'd better run run, run run to me
Better run, run run, run run to me
Better come, come come, come come to me
    You'd better run

...and again, i could make it better. if he would just let me love him enough. and he couldn't.

General CommentI like the original better. There are some great lines that she cuts, in particular

    "Oh I do believe
If you don't like things you leave".

I was going to play this song to my ex-flatmates before I moved out. They ruined a great home by turning it into a hostel for their family for 2 months.

Chan's got a reputation for really making covers her own version, even if it means changing the mood, removing lyrics and performing it in her own minimalist way.
