"Rock Me On The Water" as written by and Jackson Browne....
Oh people, look around you
The signs are everywhere
You've left it for somebody other than you
To be the one to care
You're lost inside your houses
There's no time to find you now
Your walls are burning and your towers are turning
I'm going to leave you here and try to get down to the sea somehow

The road is filled with homeless souls
Every woman, child and man
Who have no idea where they will go
But they'll help you if they can
Now everyone must have some thought
That's going to pull them through somehow
Well the fires are raging hotter and hotter
But the sisters of the sun are going to rock me on the water now

Rock me on the water
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water
I'll get down to the sea somehow

Oh people, look among you
It's there your hope must lie
There's a sea bird above you
Gliding in one place like Jesus in the sky
We all must do the best we can
And then hang on to that Gospel plow
When my life is over, I'm going to stand before the Father
But the sisters of the sun are going to rock me on the water now

Rock me on the water
Sister will you soothe my fevered brow
Rock me on the water, maybe I'll remember
Maybe I'll remember how
Rock me on the water
The wind is with me now
So rock me on the water
I'll get down to the sea somehow

General CommentI wish I could site the source. I think it may have been an off-hand remark at a concert or in a social setting. He was having fun with a double entendre ( gee...when doesn't he he use that device). He said that Rock Me On the Water was about sex on a water bed.

    Excellent!

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks, the Lady of Situations.

General CommentThis song is so meaningful to me...people don't care, and that's a fact...they'd rather watch someone else do something about it, instead of doing it themselves.

General CommentI agree. "There's a sea bird above you gliding in one place like Jesus in the sky" is such a beautifully written line. Just as the sea bird can't physically change things, Jesus can't either. They are both up there looking over us, but it's up to us to effect changes and make the world a better place to live." "The Road is filled with homeless souls...And they'll help you if they can." Why is it always the ones with nothing to give that always lend a helping hand, when those with the material wealth to help sit on their riches and care nothing for the welfare of others (with a few exceptions)

General CommentI think the sisters refer to more earthly sisters. As in, I know there is judgment and suffering in this world and sometimes I just can't take it. He finds comfort is sex, but wonders whether that will cost him something in terms of salvation.

General CommentIt's one of Browne's apocalypse-flavored songs. Similar to Before the Deluge. And probably a double entendre at the same time, as MMMerry suggests. Nothing more, nothing less.

General Commentfinding your way in life, basically. 'there's a sea bird above you gliding in one place like Jesus in the sky' most beautiful line.

General CommentMostly straight forward and a great message.

I'm having some problems with the "Rock me on the water" and "I'll get down to the sea somehow" lines. I think the sister's are references to the Catholic church, possibly nuns (sister's of the SON perhaps). No clue on all the water mentioned unless is simply baptismal rebirth. "Fevered brow" could be his own temptations and feeling the heat himself.
