"Love/Building On Fire" as written by and David Byrne....
When my love
Stands next to your love
I can't compare love
When it's not love

It's not love
It's not love
Which is my face
Which is a building
Which is on fire
On fire

When my love
Stands next to your love
I can't define love
When it's not love

It's not love
It's not love
Which is my face
Which is a building
Which is on fire

I've got two loves
I've got two loves
And they go tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet like little birds

They're my two loves
And they go tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet like little birds
They're my two loves

Count them one, two loves
Count them one, two loves
Which is my face
Which is a building
Which is on fire, on fire

When my love
Stands next to your love
I can't define love
When it's not love

It's not love
It's not love
Which is my face
Which is a building
Which is on fire

General CommentSilly lyrics but it's a great song because it's so silly. "They go tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, like little birds!" Yay! The actual meaning looks a little darker than I thought it was when I see it written out.

General CommentI don't know what this song is about, but I've always imagined it from the point of view of a geeky librarian, heartbroken and kneeled over on the grass with his fists reaching towards the sky, as his love (the library) goes up in flames.

In the crowd he sees two lovers together staring at the fire, clearly in love, which leads the protagonist to feel silly for comparing his love for the library to that of the two lovers.

The tweet tweet like little birds part reminds me of a siren.

My InterpretationThe narrator is a homeowner that cares much more deeply for his house than his neighbor. His neighbor's building stands next to his love. He burns down his neighbor's house, which has two fire alarms. As it burns, they tweet like little birds.

    General CommentWhen my love
    Stands next to your love
    I can't compare love
    When it's not love

(they are so in love they don't know the feeling of not being in love)

    It's not love
    It's not love
    Which is my face
    Which is a building
    Which is on fire
    On fire

(he building on fire is his house, its his face bc the world sees his home life on fire with love)

    When my love
    Stands next to your love
    I can't define love
    When it's not love

(he can't define love bc he is always in love and there is no , "no love")

    It's not love
    It's not love
    Which is my face
    Which is a building
    Which is on fire

(the house is on fire with love and its something he shows the world w/ his face , it seems to be known)

    I've got two loves
    I've got two loves
And they go tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet like little birds

(his two loves are his children)

    They're my two loves
And they go tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet like little birds
    They're my two loves

(his children are his two loves that go about the house tweeting in an air of love)

    Count them one, two loves
    Count them one, two loves
    Which is my face
    Which is a building
Which is on fire, on fire

(he counts them one, two loves bc they are twins)

    When my love
    Stands next to your love
    I can't define love
    When it's not love

(same as above, he is so in love , he's enmeshed in it)

    It's not love
    It's not love
    Which is my face
    Which is a building
    Which is on fire

(same, his family life is on fire, he's in love w himself bc of it and he is so in love akin to flames. i suppose he lives with his twin flame)
