"Chocolate" as written by and Jonathan Simon/poole Douglas....
Fragile seams
I opened my too quick and all my dreams
Were walking out I'd slowly
Lost my fire
With every single man a river cried

I had no sensation
Completely numb, left with no satisfaction
I thought no-one could ever get me high again
I swear, I was not looked

Oh, waited so long
I thought the real thing was a fake
I thought it was a tool to break me down
You proved me wrong again

If love were liquid it would drown me
In a place less place would find me
In a heart shape come around me and then
Melt me slowly down
If love were a human it would know me
In a lost space come and show me
Hold me and control me and then
Melt me slowly down
Like chocolate

Tastes so good
My heart's been mended who'd have thought it would
An empty bet and still I won the cash
A man who I love and who
Loves me back

Oh, waited so long
For love to heal me so I'd feel it
Thought it wasn't breathing then you came
You proved me wrong again

If love were liquid it would drown me
In a place less place would find me
In a heart shape come around me and then
Melt me slowly down
If love were a human it would know me
In a lost space come and show me
Hold me and control me and then
Melt me slowly down
Like chocolate

If love were liquid it would drown me
In a place less place would find me
In a heart shape come around me and then
Melt me slowly down
If love were a human it would know me
In a lost space come and show me
Hold me and control me and then
Melt me slowly down

Like chocolate come here
Zoom in, catch the smile
There's no doubt it's from you
And I'm addicted to it now

Just one look boy to melt me down
Just one heart here to save me now
Your candy kisses are sweet I know
Hold me tight baby don't let go

Just one look boy to melt me down
Just one heart here to save me now
Your candy kisses are sweet I know
Hold me tight baby don't let go

Just one look boy to melt me down
Just one heart here to save me now
Your candy kisses are sweet I know
Hold me tight baby don't let go

Just one look boy to melt me down
Just one heart here to save me now
Your candy kisses are sweet I know
Hold me tight baby don't let go

If love were liquid it would drown me
In a placeless place would find me
In a heart shape come around me and then
Melt me slowly down
If love were a human it would know me
In a lost space come and show me
Hold me and control me and then
Melt me slowly down

If love were liquid it would drown me
In a place less place would find me
In a heart shape come around me and then
Melt me slowly down
If love were a human it would know me
In a lost space come and show me
Hold me and control me and then
Melt me slowly down
Like chocolate

General CommentI don't think it's a metaphor for anything apart from the obvious; chocolate being a metaphor for love. It's just a clever use of language, since chocolate melting and flowing around you is a very sexual thought.

Basically the whole song is about how she's consumed by love ('If love were liquid it would drown me'), and it's led to her make many mistakes.

The metaphor of chocolate replacing love can be taken further. It can be very sickly if you have too much at once (and she was sick of love because she had too many guys let her down), but now it 'tastes so good', because she's find the right guy.

General CommentI agree that Kylie has a very sexy voice, capable of being feisty and sensuous simultaneously.

Based on the vaguely hip-hop vocalizations in the background and the allusion to chocolate.... could this song refer to not just a new and wonderful relationship, but to one with a black guy? Though in Australia there aren't many people of african decent, so perhaps the metaphor is less specific there than in America.

General CommentI think centering the song around "chocolate" is meant to be more than just a sexual thing. Chocolate is most commonly used as a comfort food--when people feel bad, they eat chocolate--it's comforting and reassuring, it makes them feel better. Throughout the song Kylie talks about how her prior relationships/experiences have not been good--leading to heartbreak and making her pessimistic. Yet, despite her initial reservations about this new relationship it has turned out to be a genuine love. She didn't go into it expecting much, but she realizes she has actually gained a lot from it ("an empty bet and still I won the cash"). Her love is finally returned, he knows her very well, she can depend on him, etc. It's all very comforting, like chocolate.

It's really a well put together song, definitely one of her most underrated. A song with similar lyrical content would be Britney Spears' "Unusual You." They're both about being jaded/pessimistic because of bad previous relationships but being pleasantly surprised by this new relationship which is so different from the prior ones--because it's actually good for them and it's conduming them to the point of making them rethink their negative expectations about relationships.

General CommentVery hot song. Especially when she says, "There's no doubt it's from you, And I'm addicted to it now" love it!
