"Becoming I" as written by and Vincent Paul/abbott Abbott....
Sunlight warms my face
It's hard to take in
An overwhelming grace
From the way that I live

So close to you
I feel so ashamed
This must be new
'cause I've fallen again

The stench smells so real
Like I've been here before
Emotions will kill
The life I've always known

Because of their lies
The world seems to change
But since you've arrived
I feel no more pain

Because I have become the one thing I hate
I've become the smile on your face
There's no need to save the me that I've made
'cause I have become the one thing I hate

The unwanted things
That breathe in my skin
That filled all the void
In which I live in

And everytime you bounce
I feel so alive
Know many ways to count
The many times I've died

So close to you, so close to you

General Commentit means something different to everyone, but to me it resonates bacause of my struggles with drug addiction. I used to work in a hospital and saw addicts come in nightly strung out and felt disgust. You never think it'll happen to you.

Cause I have become the one thing I hate.... yeah

General CommentFor me it's about personal growth. "You" could be a personification of some negative quality such as a bad habit to be overcome, or "the opponent within." This personification seems to be used in "Bruises" as well.
