"You've Gone Away Enough" as written by and Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn....
If the light takes you in will you know where you've been all this time
At the edge of a cliff you could almost just slip down the side
When there's so much to do don't you wish you could make up your mind?
But it know it's elusive, it grows and it burns you inside

With my eyes mostly closed like a person who knows how to drown
I'll squint at the sun and my shoulders will pray for the ground
Let's throw something over, imagine it's us falling down
And thinking of death we will watch without making a sound

But it's just the way you are you don't have to be afraid
The way you look at the stars and how you think that they were made
The motion will never stop turning the night into the day
You've gone away enough when will you decide to stay

My trouble with everything always is nothing's just right
Just to figure out nothing could keep you awake half the night
Not to know what you want is a terrible thing you should fight
You just sift for the face of the dark while you wait for the light

My InterpretationI think this song is about sadness, even depression. "But it know it's elusive, it grows and it burns you inside", as a person who has been suffering from depression all my life, it became a part of who I am.

"with my eyes mostly closed like a person who knows how to drown
i'll squint at the sun and my shoulders will pray for the ground
let's throw something over, imagine it's us falling down
and thinking of death we will watch without making a sound"

This, right there. My favorite part. You're not willing to die but you're not willing to live. You're just numb.

General Commentwow...just heard this song for the first time and i love it...so beautfiul & so powerful.

what i love about mirah's songs is i can relate to almost all of them...this one i definitly can. i think its about someone who just doesnt really know what they want so they keep going around trying to figure out what it is that they want. she is saying, just stay put for a while and it will come to you. this person is so sure they will find it that they are starting to feel let down, discouraged, and desperate for not finding.

it's as if they were so sure of everything that they are now sure of nothing.

this is what i think...what's everyone else think?

General Commentfor me, i think it's more like the person was so sure of everything, made plans and stuff, then things drastically changed with no warning, and that's why now the person feels as if he/she knows nothing at all anymore.

like losing your best friend with no warning. you're disoriented and numb, constantly waiting to wake up from it, only to realize it's really happening. helplessness and disbelief. trying to find the lightswitch in the dark.

    "you've gone away enough
when will you decide to stay?"

i feel like yelling these lines at the top of my lungs.
