"So" as written by and Wayne R. (static-x)/eisen Wells....
So I've betrayed self
So I've betrayed you
So what now?
So what do we do?

Pushing you away
Away from me

So I'm, I'm confused
So you're not amused
So I'm feeling used
So what do we do?

Pushing you away
Away from me

Empty inside
I'm dying, I'm crying
She makes me bad
Betrays my head
Empty inside
I'm dying, I'm crying
She makes me bad

My InterpretationI keep seeing posts about this song being about a relationship with a girl. It is blatant to me, especially if you watch the video, that it is actually a fall from grace with Christ.

    Lyrics:
    So I've betrayed self
    So I've betrayed you
    So what now?
    So what do we do?

The video solidifies my understanding of the song as I believed it was about a religious struggle. In the video he places his hands together is if praying to the lord explaining his betrayal of his own soul, the lord and his confused reality because he is knowingly being manipulated by the devil, as you will find later in the song. The following lines, pushing you away, that is repeated throughout the song is his perception the effect of being manipulated by the devil.

    Lyrics:
    So I'm, I'm confused
    So you're not amused
    So I'm feeling used
    So what do we do?

This is simply saying that he knows he's being used by the devil and the manipulation is distorting his reality. He knows that what he is doing is wrong. He knows that the lord is angry. The last line, so what do we do, is asking the lord what will happen. He follows with the chorus of pushing you away from me signifying that he has chosen to continue to consort with the devil.

    Lyrics:
    Empty inside
    I'm dying, I'm crying
    She makes me bad
    Betrays my head
    Empty inside
    I'm dying, I'm crying
    She makes me bad

This final verse is basically a plee for help. He regrets his decisions but feels as if he is no longer in control. He feels like he no longer is in control of his own soul, hence empty inside. The im dying, im crying line has nothing to do with the physical sense; it is in reference to his soul. The reason so many people confuse this song with a relationship with a woman is because of the lines She makes me bad. This line is a direct reference to the devil. In scripture Satan is most often refereed to as a female, although angels/demons are supposedly gender ambiguous, it does not change the fact that Satan is the one being referenced here. The depressing tone of the song is rightfully sad as the person it is written of or for is most certainly damned.

General CommentI think this song is about a relationship that is full of betrayal (as it is talking about in the first few lines). I think it is also kind of describing a relationship gone wrong in which both parties have been taken advantage of or misused in some way. Awesome song, everything about it is awesome.

General CommentWow, this sounds nothing like what you'd expect from these guys. How's that for musical growth? Anyone think Linkin Park'll be expanding their horizons that far any time soon?

    Shame about the haircut though.

General CommentThis is easily my favourite Static-X song, and like a lot of them with such simple, yet strongly effective lyrics. When I listen to this song I kind of think about the emotional and embarrassing gap that appears every time you have a fight with someone you love.

    Rather simple meaning, actually.
I doubt there are any double meanings in it too.

And, GhostWishing, I notice that you made that post 2 years ago but I'm still gonna point out that this is a site for lyrics interpretations- EVEN for the most simplest of songs. Even instrumental tracks get interpreted on here.

So, GhostWishing- fuck you, asshole and get a life.
