"Cassandra" as written by Benny Goran Bror Andersson and Bjoern K. Ulvaeus....
Watching backwards as life like pictures
Stinging thoughts, born with phantoms
We danced above a world forgotten
Moments cherished...even now
A train-wrecked heart loves fairy tales
Singing from a gaping wound
However time has left unsettled
My memories play out of tune

You can't unmake a cold mistake
You can't undo the hearts you break
You can't erase the poet's fate
Not even if you try

And she had Audry Hepburn's smile
With deeper sadder eyes
The only thing she said
No one hears Cassandra cry
Because the earth is standing still
And the truth becomes a lie
A choice profound is bittersweet
No one hears Cassandra cry

A heartfelt sorrow I believe
Offered this for passion's crime
A crippled satellite trapped in orbit
My memories play out of time

You can't unmake a cold mistake
You can't undo the hearts you break
You can't erase the poet's fate
Not even if you ry...

The listless price of my descension
Where emptiness has pulled me down
Cascading from my divagation
Below the frozen winter skies
Pythonic sadness unreleased
As serpents rigid in the cold
Waiting for the warmth of Sunday
Before the cruelty of growing old

Are you listening?
Are you listening?
Are you listening now?
Like Orpheus with hope intangled
Your path was mapped about your feet
Leading backwards into forgiveness
Or forward to a foold retreat

General CommentCXS actually seems to be fairly popular for an underground type band... their popularity still sort of surprises me, such as placing 5th favourite band in the EBM/Industrial/Goth genres at WGT a couple of years back. Ahead of bands like Sisters of Mercy and NIN I think... pretty neat.

Anyway, this is a great song. I definitely recommend listening to the Ego Likeness remix of this song, since the chorus is then done by a female vocalist. The contrast of the voices is very beautiful, and the final time the chorus is sang, the male/female vocals overlap.

General CommentBeautiful song, with georgous background vocals. The song follows with the album's greek mythology theme, it is the story of Cassandra who prophasized tragety, but no one listened, and eventually they fell. However I believe there is a duel meaning to the song and i guess you can interperate the other half any way you want.

General CommentYeah i know, i just saw them for the fourth time last thursday in DC. They put on a great live show. What surprised me is that they headlined over Icon of Coil, who i thought to be a much more widely know band.

General CommentActually what happened was Apollo gave her the power of prophecy, but when she refused his love he twisted her gift so that though she spoke the truth all believed she was lying and so they fell to ruin. "And the truth becomes a lie"... "The listless price of my descension Where emptiness has pulled me down Cascading from my divagationBelow the frozen winter skies Pythonic sadness unreleased"... with Pythonic meaning a prophetic priestess of Apollo.
