Remember when I was young and so were you
And time stood still and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start and it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music we danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

Remember when
Remember when

The song is pretty self-explanatory. It talks about growing up, learning things on the way, maturing, and becoming a new person.

It just says how amazing love is and how much he cares for his wife who is the one dancing with him

when I first heard this song, i will admit, it made me misty. I was with my girlfriend at the time and she had three kids and we had raised them for two years together, of course, she got transfered in her job, i couldn't find a job and we fought alot about money. we tried to make it work but in the end, it jsut would'nt.so in a way, this song takes on a different meaning for me, when you got someone you want to share your life with, think of this song, and think this way, you can be with that person all of your life and look back with them and say Remember when? or you can sit back alone, and think to yourself, remember when? sometimes songs make you see things you never think about

For my parents 30th anniversary, I made a cd of old pictures of our family growing up. I needed a song to play while we watched the movie, and I had just bought Alan's greatest hits 2 cd. As soon as I heard this song, I knew it was the one to listen to while we watched the movie. When my mom started crying, I knew it was the perfect song. This song fits my parents perfectly. I love this song. It's so beautiful.

For me-alone and heartbroken over the break up from the man that I was sure I would end up with...this song is painful to hear ~ but so beautiful. Makes me want to make marriage work-not give up, and do it right the next time that I fall in love.

If my life is half as beautiful as this song, I will die a happy man.

I'm young. And, this song, wow. Brings tears to my eyes. My mother brought me to an Alan Jackson concert, and I can admit, I was hesitant to going because I'm not into country music at all. When this song came on, I was bawling my eyes out. The imagery playing in the background while he does this song is just.. wow. Beautiful.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

No Surprises

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
