"In The Shadows" as written by Lauri Yloenen, Pauli Rantasalmi, Aki Hakala and Eero Heinonen....
No sleep
No sleep until I'm done with finding the answer
Won't stop
Won't stop before I find a cure for this cancer

Sometimes I feel like going down I'm so disconnected
Somehow I know that I am haunted to be wanted

I've been watching, I've been waiting
In the shadows for my time
I've been searching, I've been living
For tomorrow's all my life
In the shadows
In the shadows

They say that I must learn to kill before I can feel safe
But I, I'd rather kill myself than turn into their slave

Sometimes I feel that I should go and play with the thunder
Somehow I just don't want to stay and wait for a wonder

I've been watching, I've been waiting
In the shadows for my time
I've been searching, I've been living
For tomorrow all my life

Lately, I've been walking, walking in circles
Watching, waiting for something
Feel me, touch me, heal me
Come take me higher

I've been watching, I've been waiting
In the shadows for my time
I've been searching, I've been living
For tomorrow all my life

I've been watching, I've been waiting
I've been searching, I've been living
For tomorrow

Oh oh
Oh oh
In the shadows [Repeat x3]

I've been waiting

    I LOVE THOSE LINES!
I think it is pretty obvious that it isn't an actual cancer(medical tumour cancer)
I'm not exactly sure what the lyrics mean, but I love them, lol

Song MeaningWhen the rasmus released this song in the UK and Lauri was quizzed over it, he made the comment that it was written on tour when he was depressed and if you read it in that light you can see it.

The sequel (night after night) was written on the next tour when he was actually less depressed.

My InterpretationAs far as i can relate to these words, it's yet another example of the secret self-destructive pain suffered by a codependent personality who doesn't realise their needs are just as valuable as other people!

General CommentActually... the US version of the music video has absolutely nothing to do with this song. The European version of the music video - which my friend saw in the UK and told me about - is full of raven feathers and other gothic stuff... coupled with the lyrics makes this song sound to me like it's about being underappreciated and waiting for things to get better.

General CommentI think that this song is about a guy that doesnt have much a social life, thus him "Waiting in the Shadows". He is looking for his break to leave the shadows, he feels alone, he feels like he needs a girlfriend or someone to talk too, and he has been waiting in his own shadows of darkness, and thats what is keeping him from socializing with other people. He probally stays home most of the time and feels lonely. He wants to step out of the shadow and start a new type of life because he is tired of staying in the shadows and watching and waiting, cause it aint going to happen.

General CommentYou're calling us gay for listening to The Rasmus? Your top band is listed as Jane's Addiction. Have you seen those guys?
