"Dirty Girl" as written by and Mark O. Everett....
I like a girl with a dirty mouth
Someone that I can believe
We had a window, not open too long
But that time is good and gone

And if I ever see her again
Just walking by with some new guy
I know that we will need to pretend
And hope our eyes keep telling lies

Sit on the back porch and wonder 'bout her
What is she doing right now?
Making somebody a happier man
Dying her hair back to brown

Once in a while your life gets so good
Worth all the trouble of the past
That was the case but I think I always knew
Good things don't ever last

And if I ever see her again
Just walking by with some new guy
I know that we will need to pretend
And hope our eyes keep telling lies

I like a girl with a dirty mouth
Know that I can trust her
We had our time but it didn't last too long
And that time is good and gone
That time is good and gone
That time is good and gone

General CommentSheesh.. this song was posted April and no one has posted anything? This song is fantastic! It rocks my world... I believe its a great song, simple and yet accurate too.

'hope our eyes keep telling lies' - love that line.

General CommentAgreed, great song. Meaning is pretty obvious. It tells a story, as with many eels songs, this one about someone who is looking back with longing on a failed relationship with a slightly trashy but wonderful girl.

On the rare occasions when I play music live, and on the rarer occasions when I pull this song out, I like to change/extend the chorus section a little. (Sorry shockdelica) I just don't like rhyming "eyes" and "lies". too cliche for me. instead, i sing:

"...I know that we will need to pretend
    and look away
we don't have a thing to say"

yes, I know, it's blasphemy to change the lyrics to a good song, but it feels right to me.

General CommentI think this is a beautiful song, it's about a girl who's not normal, she's dirtier than what he's used to, and he loves it, and even though they broke up, he still thinks about her, and loves her dirtyness.
