With my back to the wall you've somehow pinned me up against.
Fingernails in the palms of these tightly clenched fists.
And I'm somewhere in between a held tongue and a curse.
Or I could keep it inside, and hide it.
In hopes my avoidance will cure it.
But there's no time for this.
Or I could keep it inside, and hide it.
In hopes my avoidance will cure it.
But there's no time for this again.

So light it up and let it fly away.
A Molotov Cocktail, my dreams symbolized in flames.

Put your back to them all, I swear they're not getting you there.
A blueprint for the outside, when it's cold out there.
It's not clear, but I refuse to breathe from these machines again.
You all depend on the filters that keep you away
From the pain when you cry, and the praises you sang.
It's not real so I refuse to breathe from these machines again.

So light it up and let it fly away.
A Molotov Cocktail, my dreams symbolized in flames.
And I won't ask a lot from you, I just pray that the masks will come unglued.
And we're not yours, we'll be with you soon.

I hope we can be with you soon.

So light it up and let it fly away.
A Molotov Cocktail, my dreams symbolized in flames.
And I won't ask a lot from you, I just pray that the masks will come unglued.
And we're not yours, we'll be with you soon.

And this routine feels like a knife, entering my back then down my spine.
I've withstood the sting for long enough, and I'm prepared to discard it.
So light it up and let it go away. So light it up and let it fly away.

Fly away.

General CommentI think in the first verse he talks about the system that kills his dreams and just confinces him in his actions he wants to do.
In the second verse he talks about you, as us.
He wants to save us from this system and tells us not to go with it.
In the outro he just says out what kills him in this world. What he really feels about it.
In the chorus the system takes his dreams soaks them in petrol, puts them into a bottle, burns them and trows them away...
I think, but I´m a german idiot so:
    CORRECT ME!!!!

General CommentMolotov, i think is a city in the former USSR, and I believe there were uprisings and rebellions there, perhaps petrol bombs were heavily used, as Molotov Cocktail is another term for petrol bombs.

General CommentThe name "molotov cocktail" is from the Russian name Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov, a Soviet politician who was the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs.

Before WWII, when Finland refused to surrender some land to the Soviet Union, the Soviets invaded. The Finnish Army, facing Red Army tanks, borrowed an improvised incendiary device from the Spanish Civil War.

When Molotov claimed in radio broadcasts that the Soviet Union was not dropping bombs but rather delivering food to the starving Finns, the Finns started to call the air bombs satirically "Molotov picnic baskets". Soon they responded by saluting the advancing tanks with "Molotov cocktails."

^ Paraphrased from Wikipedia. It has little to do with the song, however...

General CommentWell good guesses but, i think that in this song Brandon is talking about the sin that people keep pined up in side of them and out of sight, and how there hopping it will just go away. an the chorus means to just expose it and throw it away(the Molotov Cocktail) . The next verse is about turning your back on the the church because the world(the Machines) says you screwed up, your not good enough. The end of the next chorus is pretty simple he just wants you to show the real you , expose your faults(take off the "Mask"). The next part he talks about "this routine feels like a knife" IOW it hurts him to keep covering this up and he is ready to expose it. The last line seems self explanatory
Thats what i got form it at least.

General Commenti've always understood, "So light it up and let it fly away.
A Molotov Cocktail, my dreams symbolized in flames", meant that it was his dreams he was throwing away. I could be wrong though
