"1st Things 1st" as written by and Alexander Greenwald....
You should get your story straight, before i start to doubt it
'Cause if you've worn your lipstick off, I want to hear about it
And telling me would be such a breeze, say it if you want to leave
I think I'm getting the drift,

You want some time with your friends, on the nights and weekends
You take the time for yourself both of us used to spend
Before you make it better, before you make it worse
1st things 1st

I don't think it's an accident, you treat me like a dummy
Hold on, hold on
Well I've been asking for the truth, at least just tell me something
Hold on, hold on
And telling me would be such a breeze, let me know, don't let me be
It's almost too easy

I'm holding you by the hand, more like the nape of your neck
Why don't you draw up a list you have to frequently check?
And put some things in order and lose it in your purse
1st things 1st

I'm holding you by the hand, more like the nape of your neck
Well what your trouble is, you have to frequently check
And put some things in order and lose it in your purse
1st things 1st

You spend all that time with your friends on every night and weekend
You take the time for yourself both of us used to spend
Before you make it better, before you make it worse

First things
First things
First things
First things first

General Commentyea...i agree with jeff. Some guy is getting suspicious about his girl cheating on him.

"You should get your story straight before I start to doubt it "

He's sick of hearing lies and different escuses

"'Cause if you've worn your lipstick off I want to hear about it "

Her lipstick is worn off because she was kissing someone else.

"And telling me would be such a breeze say it if you wanna leave"

He'd rather have her admit it, than to keep up their relationship together

"I'm holding you by the hand
More like the nape of your neck"

lol...don't really get this line but it's my favorite. It's like he feels he can control her by holding on to her hand and then admits that he wants to grab her neck to keep her from seeing other guys...or maybe he feels like wringing her neck for the truth...

General CommentI think when he says

"I'm holding you by the hand
More like the nape of your neck"

It seems like he wants to be equal with this girl but feels he needs to repremand her and be a babysitter for her since he can't trust her to be faithful on her own.

General CommentIt's obvious what this song is about. But definitely what Maya said.
