I lost my voice in the fire
I burned my eyes staring at your eclipse
I was just a child
my father's favorite
my father's favorite
such delicate arms keep reaching towards the horizon
As we keep starving for this beauty,
we are sick with distance
starving for this beauty
we are sick with distance
grieving for his failure
we are sick with distance x4
you keep me on my knees
waiting for, waiting for
you keep me on my knees
mummified in your arms
you keep me on my knees
waiting for, begging for
this is the last chance that you will get
to breathe my name right through his chest
I lost my voice in the fire
I burned my eyes staring at your eclipse
I was just a child
My father's favorite
my father's favorite
such delicate arms keep reaching toward the horizon
Only the deaf find peace
only the blind won't reach
only the deaf find peace
only the blind won't reach

General CommentJames said in a recent interview that theres a deeper, darker story in the album than just pass the flask, I think this comes through in this song there's so much desperation

General Commentwow this song is amazing.

    Only the deaf find peace.
    Only the blind won't reach.

only the deaf find peace (and quiet) beacuse they cant hear whats going on around them, they cant hear the war, so for them everything is peacful and quiet.
Only the blind cant reach (and by reach I mean see) for something concrete and physical because they cant see it. Just like people blind themselves to the truth so they can never touch happines. and just like people who deaf themselves to the truth, so for them everything is quiet.

I have no idea where that came from.

General CommentThis is an amazing song and I'll tell you what it means to me, maybe you'll agree with some of it. I think it's about how his family was torn by constant fighting between his parents. When he says "they are starving for this beauty we are sick with distance" I think it's a reference to how he is wishing for a happy family life but it is so far removed from what his family are really like and he is therefore "sick with distance". "Grieving for his failure" may be about his father and possibly the cause for the fighting(alcoholic maybe). "Only the deaf find peace" because it would be peaceful if he couldn't hear the fighting and the hatred. "Only the blind won't reach", if he didn't see how happy other families were then he wouldn't know there was anything wrong with his own situation.
Sorry it's a bit long. I hope it makes sense to someone.

General CommentReally, the fire? So that's where you lose your voice. I thought maybe it would be after recording the song.
