I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
I gave me away, I could have knocked off the evening
But I lonelily landed my waltz in her hands
In a way, I felt you were leaving me
I was sure I wouldn't find you at home
And you let me down, you could have knocked off the evening
But you lonelily let him push under your bone
You let me down, it's no use deceiving
Neither of us wanna be alone
And you're coming home
You're coming home
And you're coming home
You're coming home
I gave me away, I could have knocked off the evening
But I was lonelily looking for someone to hold
In a way, I lost all I believed in
And I never found myself so low
And you let me down, you could've called if you'd needed
But you lonelily got yourself locked in instead
And you let me down, it's one thing being cheated
But you took him all the way through your bed
And now you're coming home
And I'm trying to forgive, you're coming home
And I'm trying to forget, you're coming home
And I'm trying to move on, you're coming home
And you haven't called yet, you're coming home
And I'm trying to forgive, you're coming home
I'm just trying to forget, you're coming home
I'm trying to move on, you're coming home
But you haven't called, you're coming home
You're coming home, you're coming home
You're coming home
I gave me away, I could have knocked off the evening
But I lonelily loomed her into my bone
You let me down, there's no use deceiving
Neither of us wanna be alone

You let me down, there's no use deceiving
Neither of us wanna be alone

Plastic Bag

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
This song is about giving a part of yourself to someone in a relationship. It's not something that you necessarily had to do, but something that the fear of being alone led you to do.
In this relationship, you have to deal with the other person's infidelity. They didn't just cheat with their body, but with their complete heart and soul.
Time has seperated the two parties, but as the distance closes and as you come closer to home, you try to forgive and forget what has happened. It's an endless cycle of having expectations and being let down, but it still beats being lonely.
This song seems to mean to me that these people were probably together a long time, lost physical interest in eachother, turned to other people because they were both lonely, only to find that in reality it was wrong. The girl obviously took it farther than he did, and once he found this he went and did the same thing. <br /> Simple as that. <br /> <br /> I've found much more meaning in it though, in my relationship. But, thats what i think he means.
To me, this song has a different meaning.<br /> <br /> He knows what they had is over, and knows she is going to leave but did not want her to go because he still loves her ("I was sure I wouldn't find you at home/and you let me down"). It was exactly how he expected it would be, but that's not how he wanted it to be, so he is feeling let down.<br /> <br /> He did not explore other partners in the 2nd verse as she did. The "someone" he was looking to hold was her and she wasn't there so he lost all he believed in (their love).<br /> <br /> He gives her the benefit of the doubt by making excuses for her "you could've called if you needed" "you got yourself locked in"<br /> <br /> Throughout the song so far, he has insisted she is coming back, but its now that we get our first clue what is really going on. While he is trying to forgive and forget (in preparation of taking her back) we see that he is fooling himself. She hasn't called and isn't returning.<br /> <br /> He desperately wants her to return to him because "neither of us wanna be alone", but he fails to accept that she isn't alone, only he is because he cannot move on.<br /> <br /> It's the classic case of one person moving on from a relationship while the other cannot accept that it is over and has convinced themselves that their love will be returning to them eventually.<br /> <br /> She "took [the new person] all the way through [her] bed", she has fallen in love with someone else. He's alone, she moved on.
