just take it back (I feel)
they're only words (your hair)
we hold the tethers (through my)
we're here together (fingers)
we paint the night (every)
only to find (silk stand)
it's cracked and peeling (takes my)
each face revealing (breath a-)
what we don't say (-way)

let's take these lines and draw ourselves out of here
this shipwreck from set-sail
we'll map the stars
tonight they help to find a way
when all is said
words can breathe more life than death

the innocence that people share
when touching on secrets and letting down hair

over and over let's not forget last time
I've kept the best parts and play them in my mind
this is tomorrow so take it or leave it

empty diaries
we have nothing to say
and we'll take the right steps to keep these pages clean
you want the answers and I see them on your face
you need to know this is where the promise breaks

I can give you my answer

i know (i know)
if you stay (if you stay)
this will be (this will)
ours to take (be ours to take)

inside i (i feel)
am overwhelmed (so good)
from holding back (i want)
but know that this won't be forever (you for all my days, but tonight...)

i can't stay here
you can't ask me
just so you would know

    General Commentthis song is beautiful

in this the singer remembers all the wonderful time he shared in a relationship. but now it's over and he has to leave. it gets complicated towards the end though...i'm not sure....

General Commenti think this song is about a relationship is reckless and doesn't seem to have any direction. perhaps they have tried several times and each time it ended badly. he knows the relationship is a mistake but for some reason they always come back.

General CommentThis is an amazingly beautiful song. I love it deeply. I've sort-of had an experience with it myself, a love that I keep going back to. Sort-of off and on relationships that are so vibrant and real when they happen, it's like you want to be together forever. But they break. For some reason you just keep coming back to each other. I also think it's about making the person finally choose. "This is tomorrow, take it or leave it." I think it's about making the person choose whether they want to be with you or not, and stop leaving you in the grey. And I think the last few lines, "I can't stay here, you can't ask me just so you would know" are about love - you can't keep somebody waiting, and you can't leave them hanging just so you would be comforted by always knowing they love you. It's supposed to be a mutual thing.

    But hey..what do I know?

Lyrics are so hard to interpret sometimes.

General CommentYea, i hear ya Jfreem. I mean, personally, i think they were just trying to rhyme in this song.

But honestly, thats the thing about Lyrics... they dont have ONE meaning. sure they may have meant something specific to the person who wrote the song, but if you take away something from a song that applies to your life, then by golly, thats what the song means. You see what im saying? But yes, this song is definately about Morality from what i gather. Key words and phrases lead to such an interpretation ... "clean" "overwhelmed" "holding back" "wont be forever" and so on and so forth. at least from my experiences , that is what i gather ...

General CommentAs a friend of a member of Emery, here is my take on this song.

It's all about memories, memories of a relationship that had poor communication, but still holding the desire to make it work. However, also knowing that sometimes, it doesn't take words to express yourself. Sometimes you just see the look on someone's face and know what they're feeling and thinking. Yes there's more to it on a personal lever for Toby..but I'm leaving it at that.

General Commentok here's my opinion, don't trust me, what do i know anyway
    "empty diaries
    we have nothing to say
and we'll take the right steps to keep these pages clean
you want the answers and I see them on your face
you need to know this is where the promise breaks"
this could mean they've had a sexual encounter

" this is where the promise breaks"
christinans usually make promisis to abstain from sex until marriage
    that would make sense

this song could be about wanting to be with this girl so bad
but knowing its just not right
and holding back but knowing if you stay you wont be able to hold back anymore
    "from holding back (i want)
but know that this won't be forever (you for all my days, but tonight...)"
    i don't know, maybe

General CommentI was about to say what theperfectbreak said. I think it's about wanting to go too far in a relation ship but know that it's best to wait.

    inside i (i feel)
    am overwhelmed (so good)
    from holding back (i want)
but know that this won't be forever (you for all my days, but tonight...)

Like, you want to go that far but you know this isn't the right person.
