If you view life as a mission
For truth and purity in vision
You can become as the anointed
And fade away from the disjointed

In observation, I analyze
All the aspects of humanity that I despise

I am the voyager
I have tasted pleasures of the flesh
And drunk the pleasures of the mind
To reach the point I've attained
Clear focused and defined

Those who don't create dictate
The structure of our world and preach hate
Drifting out of languid boredom
To destroy the structure of our kingdom

In observation, I analyze
All the aspects of humanity that I despise

I am the voyager
I have tasted pleasures of the flesh
And drunk the pleasures of the mind
To reach the point I've attained
Clear focused and defined

If you live life draped in sorrow
You will destroy the path we follow
Take my hand and walk in wonder
The patterns spin in random order

In observation, I analyze
All the aspects of humanity that I despise

I am the voyager
I have tasted pleasures of the flesh
And drunk the pleasures of the mind
To reach the point I've attained
Clear focused and defined
I am the voyager
I, Voyager

General Commentthe song is about hating human nature and all its aspects
    hate, manipulation, apathy, lust
he is saying hes done all these things and depises all of them so he seeks to be more than human because humans are sick twisted creatures

General CommentI could swear, in the last chorus, he says 'divine' instead of 'defined'.

General CommentThere's more to it than that. I hear a lot of Nietzsche in this song, and on this particular album in general. He is not striving to become "something more than human" although you're close. He is saying he has experienced life, and his experiences have contributed to his philosophies and beliefs. You are human, so you can never be "more than human", but you can strive to be a "higher form" of human (Nietzsche called it the übermensch) that has freed himself/liberated his ego from popular morality. However, he is not saying "follow me to this new humanity" because that would negate the entire concept of the free spirit. Nietzsche said these people justify the existence of humanity.

Whether or not Dane meant for it to have that kind of meaning, that's what it makes me think, which is interesting.

General CommentOne of Nevermore's best songs, and one of my first. I agree that it has misanthropic leanings in the lyrics (like most of Nevermore's songs), but I also agree with Brat Moj's interpretation.
