"Novella" as written by Gareth Davies, Matthew Davies, Ryan Richards, Kris Roberts and Darran Anthony Smith....
Wasting time, it's over and ended
Wasting time, we deserve
Hold that line, they ask us in safety
Hold that line, when we talk

I can see the headlights and pavements
My legs can't carry me that far
If this distance isn't enough they'll cry
Another river to see you drown

Faceless lies, it's easy to speak when
Every word is your own
Selfish eyes look onward in protest as we
Tear down their disguise

Your days were golden while
We bled

General CommentMatt Davies actually said on their video Q&A thingy on youtube that there was a story behind the vocals:
"I can see the headlights and pavements
My legs can't carry me that far..."
from when he actually walked home from a party drunk with only his boxers on in the middle of the road.

General CommentI love the begging of this song up until it goes to the slower, mellower part. Good song but.

General CommentI still quite haven't figured out a meaning for this song, it makes me think of possible political views with all the 'Self Lies" "As we tear down there disguise" etc.
But on the other hand the chorus reminds me of being on a night out. "I can see the headlights and pavements, My legs can't carry me that far". This being like when you're totally pissed and can't walk. And then "If this distance isn't enough they'll cry another river to see you drown". This reminds me of all the times when there always ends up with some girls crying. But I'm not sure the verses match up with the chorus. It's all intertwining and confusing.
I love this song though, I personally love the ending where it all mellows down and then builds up into an instrumental crescendo, absolutely brilliant.
Great end to the album, can't wait for the new one in 2005!! \m/
