@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

The Avalon is always beside me
And I'm following it home
Where is my home
Orion glows
And his eyes open up
I once believed that I would set you in line
If only I had the strength you'd be completely accepting something else
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to stop it now
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you just tell me something
The fluid through the alpha waves and power cables everywhere
Exercising self-control
The child calls
And he lies open
I would believe if only I'd been thinking at all
If only I had the strength you'd be completely accepting something else
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to stop it now
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you just tell me something
If you keep asking me (keep asking me) keep asking me
If only I had the strength you'd be completely accepting something else
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to stop it now
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you just tell me something
You swore
Out like my life
You cried
So I'm engaged to smile
The Avalon is always beside me
And I'm following it home

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
i think that this is a song about a girl. the avalon part i think means that he cannot live up to the old boyfriend of the girl. i think that the 'riot' is a fight between the two and then his 'eyes' opening up means that he realizes that the girl is still hung up with the previous relationship.
the chorus is, i think, about the girl wanting to know what is bothering him. it seems that he knows that fact that he can't live up to the previous guy, but doesnt tell the girl. he is torn inside, not knowing what to do.
well, thats what i think. i can be completely wrong, but thats the beauty of music in general: we make our own interpretations.
You got it! But I think its more likely about girl/drugs than mother/alcohol problem.
"If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air. It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to stop it now. If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air. It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to just tell me something." that part of the song is better than sex
This song is definitely sweet
i think that he's singing about a girl that won't stop bugging him about a relationship, or something of that nature, and the more she asks him things and the more she talks about it, the more he feels pressured and secluded. "if you keep asking me i'll melt away in the summer air", melt away as in just break down. he's had enough, and doesn't want anymore.
i'm not sure what it's about.. but i love it!
Well, I think we all really have to look at the meaning of the words.<br /> betray- an act of treason<br /> the avalon- the island where king arthur and other heroes went to die<br /> orion- a constellation, named after hunter in greek mythology<br /> i could be wrong but i think hes saying that he wasnt strong enough for something maybe to save something/someone/a relationship? of some sort<br /> which would make sense because then he goes on to say<br /> <br /> If only I had the strength you'd be completely accepting something else<br /> possibly he is saying "i cant put up with this anymore just accept whats happening"<br /> <br /> in the chorus he goes on to say <br /> If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air<br /> It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to stop it now<br /> summer has something to do with the meaning summer is hot ur hot when ur frustrated idk where that leads anything tho<br /> the next line is very interesting.<br /> its like hes saying that the pain someone is putting him though isnt what it could be so whats the point or half of the pain he could be getting is still too much and he just doesnt no how to handle it<br /> <br /> thats my take on the first little bit but im too tired to do the rest lol
i think these are one of those songs only the artist knows why it was made . the last two lines confuse me enough . i like it though .
phugazi, if that line were the only one in the song your interpretation could work.. but lines like "A riot grows and his eyes open up. I once believed I would set you in line. " If only I had the strength then maybe you could believe in something else. " could show differently. and anothony does write really hard to understand songs, and he won't even give the meanings away, so i think saythis was right;)
call me crazy but can this have something to do with god ?
Yeah the artist is probably the only one, but most song you make your own opinion thats what makes it so fun you make your own judgement based on your own experience. This song is a good example because i could see where you could get 4 or 5 meanings out of it.
does anybody know which of the two versions has anthony and which one is cove. i've listened to both simultaneously, and i can't tell the difference. if it wasn't for the drum machine in one version it would be the same song. i swear.
@superkoolkid The Intro of coves Version is longer and anthonys Voice is more „scratchy“
