"Ruled by Secrecy" as written by and Matthew James Bellamy....
Repress and restrain
Still the pressure and the pain
Wash the blood off your hands
This time she won't understand

Change in the air
And they'll hide everywhere
And no one knows who's in control

You're working so hard
And you're never in charge
Your death creates success
And you'll build and suppress

Change in the air
And they'll hide everywhere
And no one knows who's in control

Change in the air
And they'll hide everywhere
And no one knows who's in control

General CommentI feel that this song is about the uprising of the people. Think of it like this.. we have reached a point to where mankind is being ruled by something that could create some apocalyptical world again, and they're failing at creating it because the people are aware and won't stand for it. Eliminating the sickness and the 'ruling by secrecy' as the people rule, rather the ruler. And at the end of the album, the people understand and create their world in awareness.

General CommentThis song gives me the creeps. But in a good way. Matt's voice is so beautiful in this song, that it's shivers all over my body when I hear this song. And when Matt begins on his "Piano Solo" in the middle of the song, I almost go into tears. I know this sounds kinda like I'm a wimp, but i really think that the song is THAT beautiful! It's undescribeable! It really is! This is a milestone in music. A more amazing, fantastic, beautiful song you'll be looking long for.

Yes, this sounds a little too "fanboy" like, but I really feel this way.

General Commentwell im not sure why i think this but.... I belive the song is about a man at work who means nothin, just another worker in a randomn cubicle, and ends up going crazy killing everyone and the surivivors are hiding, meanwhile as he goes home with blood all over his hands to his wife, and he wants to wash the blood off his hand but there stained and cant hide from what he has done, but deep inside he knows he was right... and once again i dont know why i always thought this

General CommentMatt (I love that guy!) said that it was about how this man is 'working so hard' only to discover that what he did in society didn't make the tiniest bit of difference, and there was a higher authority making all the decisions.
So he went into a rage and killed all the people who he thought had been lying to him, and telling him he could be someone, and make a difference.
He feels he now has no purpose in life, everything he thought he had (power) had never even existed.

You can understand how that would tear someone apart.
(I am only 14, so sorry if this is all wrong)

General CommentActually, this song is based on a book called "Rule By Secrecy", so it's about conspiracy and cover-ups.

General CommentI heard what this was about on the radio or something a while ago. It's about this guy who comes home from work to his wife with blood all over his hands and stuff after he just goes crazy and kills everyone because the feeling that he isn't in control of his life, that higher powers are controlling everything he does has finally driven him insane.

General CommentWhenever i listen to this song, i get the image of a hitman, who's fallen in love. But fears what it could mean if this person was to find out about him. Picture the scenario...

General Commenti always love the build up towards the end of the song, i just picture the end of the world i spose, i think it depicts the panic and confusion etc. that everyone would be feeling as it happened
    'change in the air
    and they'll hide everywhere
and no one knows who's in control'
that probably makes no sense to anyone, but thats what i think :P
its a perfect end to the album, it really is an amazing song
