A long time ago
We used to be friends
But I haven't thought of you lately at all
If ever again
A greeting I send to you
Short and sweet to the soul I intend

Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah

Come on now, honey
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah
Just remember me when
You're good to go
Come on now, sugar
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah
Just remember me when

It's something I said
Or someone I know
Or you called me up
Maybe I wasn't home
Now everybody needs some time
And everybody knows
The rest of it's fine
And everybody knows, yeah

Come on now, sugar
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah
Just remember me when
You're good to go
Come on now, honey
Bring it on, bring it on, yeah
Just remember me when
We used to be friends
A long time ago
We used to be friends
A long time ago
We used to be friends
A long time ago
We used to be friends, yeah, yeah

Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah

A long time ago
We used to be friends
But I haven't thought of you lately at all
If ever again
A greeting I send to you
Short and sweet to the soul I intend

We used to be friends
A long time ago
We used to be friends
A long time ago
We used to be friends
A long time ago
We used to be friends

Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah

but I think with the repetition of "A long time ago, we used to be friends" there's still a bit of bitterness felt in the singer

I totally agree with you music*ismyboyfriend! ErinsEmoTears, I think it's stupid that you used to like a song but just because it was on the oc you don't like it anymore! Anyway, I LOVE THIS SONG! It's fun and it gets you in a good mood!

I don't really care if there are any mistakes in this, it's still a great song! It was featured on The O.C. once, which made the episode so much cooler. Go The O.C.! :)

erinsemotears-Have you any clue how LAME it is to like a song less because of what it's been on? That's like people who love an indie band and then the same band gets onto a major label and they get a lot of exposure, but they still realese the same music and it's still amazing, but since other people know about it they suddenly switch gears and start badmouthing the band.

I agree with the person above. I think this song is about two people and their friendship ended for some stupid reason.

I noticed a few mistakes in the lyrics. In the first chorus, it's not "just love me when"; it's "just remember me when". And instead of "the rest of the lines in everybody else's show", it is "The rest of it's fine and everybody knows."

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
