"Speed Dial No. 2" as written by Henry Binns, Sam Hardaker, Sia Kate I. Furler and Nigel Timothy Godrich....
I don't need you anymore
I'm okay and I am sure
I don't need you anymore
Yeah I'm okay, I'm reassured

And I don't need you not today
I promise I'll call I promise I'll say
I don't need you not to stay
And if you ever need me I'll reciprocate

Your shoulders in my pocket
Speed dial No. Two
See you when I need you
See you when I do
See you when I do

Do you need me, I am here
Can you ask, can you be clear
Yes you need me, I appear
Now you are me, I am here

Your shoulders in your pocket
Speed dial No. Two
Call it when you need me
See you when I do
See you when I do

Call me when you need me
Just call me when you need me

Call me when you need me
See you when I do

General CommentI think it's like: I don't need you now, but when I do, I'll call ya, 'cause I know you'll always be there for me, and vice versa.

I love the line "your shoulders in my pocket". This song is awesome.

General Commentwhere i live... speed dial #1 is reserved to call 911 direct.... therefore.... speed dial number 2 is the highest accolade a phonebooker can obtain...
"I don't need you not to stay" damned tricky double negatives...
a song as fetching as its author, Sia's voice is as sweet as sugarcane

General CommentKind of a "friends with benefits" situation... sort of where you see them for just one purpose, then it's, "Get the hell outta here, I'm finished."

General CommentI think you all are missing the point of the song. The music and how it's sung suggests a deep longing for acceptance from a lover. There's a raw sensuality going on along with a superficial denial of the physical power her lover has over her. She doesn't want to be the 2nd on his list, she wants to be first, but she helplessly tries to deny it. Haunting to say the least and highly seductive. Also, I believe the "my shoulder's in your pocket, speed dial no 2..." means that her need for his touch resides right there in his pocket. All he has to do is call her when he needs her. She's very available. The song is classic to say the least.

My InterpretationThe way it is sung gives me chills. I think it is about a guy and a girl who used to talk a lot and flirt a bit. They go out as friends and she falls in love with him. She knows that they do not have a single chance together and tries to get over him, but at the same time she hopes he will give her a sign (a sign that is never going to come).
