"Swallow" as written by and Marcus Tobias Dahlstroem Christian Thell Lindskog....
Been waiting and now you're sinking slow
Been watching how you rated me low
You say water is supposed to be brown
I say there's garbage in the fountain
Yeah
Taste and swallow, swallow down
Swallow down, swallow down
Yeah
Been wanted for thinking slow
Now you've been longing for an open window
Get out throw out
You're thirsty no doubt
Yeah
Taste and swallow, swallow down
Swallow down, swallow down
Swallow down, swallow down
Taste and swallow, swallow down
Swallow down, swallow down
Swallow down, swallow down
Taste and swallow, swallow down
Swallow down, swallow it down

General CommentI think it's talking about Christians who settle in their beliefs; see areas they need improvement, and instead of trying, they lower the bar.

My InterpretationTo me this song is about a guard in a psychiatric hospital who forces a patient to perform oral sex on him and then swallow.

"Been waiting and now you're sinking slow"
Means that she has been there for a long time and is loosing hope of leaving

"Been watching how you rated me low"
He has observed her for a long time and he knows that she doesn't like him. It is however implied that he likes her.

"You say water is supposed to be brown"
This confirmes that she is insane since water isn't supposed to be brown. She rambles it while he comes into her room.

"I say there's garbage in the fountain"
He tries to calm her down by saying that there is only "garbage" in the "fountain". It doesn't need to be saved or put to good use.

Then he repeats to her to "swallow it down" so there is no evidence of his rape.

    "Been wanted for thinking slow"
When she was outside of the hospital people thought that she was slow.

"Now you've been longing for an open window"
Now she has been there so long that she no longer hopes to get out but only for her window to be open so she can get some fresh air.

    "Get out throw out"
This is her mind screaming for her to escape and leave this evil place.

    "You're thirsty no doubt"
The guard is however enjoying himself and likes the feeling of power over her that he feels, stating that she is with out a doubt thirsty for more of him.

The song ends with him telling her to swallow it. Without any hint of her potential escape or this nightmare to stop. A truly horrifying song.

Song MeaningBlindside is a christian band. I think this song is talking about the world pushing it's ways down your throat, saying this is the way it's supposed to be so swallow it down and get over it. And it seems to me in the later verses he is saying that people slowly are figuring out the water isn't quenching their thirst but leaving them dry because it's dirty.
