Slowly
Coming over me
Like fire and ice
Confusion
All to the ground
Stone me
Like you own me
The strangest moving patterns
All flow through this city
Strummin'
As she's cumin'
She starts a revolution
But never shows up
So holy
Give me coma
Alkaline
And mainframes
Into a kiss
Cities destroyed
And so pretty
The patterns of illusion
Burn through the ground
And I'm a faker
Faker
I'm a faker
I'm a faker
I'm a faker
Vampire
Coffins to kiss
I'm a faker
I'm a faker
Morning may crawl
Fuck you
And fuck the universe
Ah, etc.
Fuck the universe
Fuck the universe
Fuck the universe
Oh, ah, etc...

This has to be my favourite Ryan Adams song. I think it's about a woman who's just too much for him to bear. He stays with her, even though he's tired of her ("I'm a faker") but he's totally had enough ("Fuck you and fuck the universe"). I just love the fact that he screams for two minutes solidly. A proper angry tune.

back on "exile on franklin street" this song was called "faker", in which ryan sang "you're a faker" and not "i'm a faker". i prefer the early version, although this one has its moments.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
