"Beautiful Child" as written by and Rufus Wainwright....
When I am older than these small god damned hills
And there's no reason for my mind to be still

Oh, how I'll feel like a beautiful child
Such a beautiful child again

When I have finally found my room filled with toys
Be banging on my crib excited by noise

Oh, how I'll feel like a beautiful child
Such a beautiful child again

And when there's nothing to gain
Or bring me pain or pin the blame
On you or myself

And when they finally fall
These wailing walls and burdened crosses
God's twilight's and all

How I'll feel like a beautiful child
Such a beautiful child again

General CommentThis cd has been out for a year and no one has commented on this - possibly the best song on it!!! This track builds to a cacophanous salutation to life.... oh hell, I sound like a wanker.... but its beautiful... go rufus.

General Commenthe does a commentary-type thing on the want one cd if you put it in your comp and i think he called this like, his "happy apocalyptic" song or something.

General Commentthis is so far my favorite Rufus song. Indeed, MGondry, it is a celebration of life. Rufus is an artist that is much overlooked at. He is brilliant, a genius so to say it and I'd marry him even if he is gay. His voice teleports me to another dimension. I just love him so much. I think I'm sounding like a wanker too but what the hey...Rufus deserves it

General CommentThese lyrics are incorrect. It's not "burning crosses" but "burdened crosses" which references the burdens of all the world's sins that Jesus took upon himself at his crucifixion. Rufus is using religious imagery-- wailing walls (Jerusalem) and burdened crosses-- in this song.

General CommentOh, also it's "these small goddamn hills" not "all these goddamned hills". Other parts of these lyrics are incorrect, but whatever.

This is one of the most amazing songs off of Want One. It is, indeed, a celebration of life. Which is strange, because it seems to mock religion in one part of the song.

General CommentOh, before that last sentence in my other review, I meant to put that it reminds me of of rebirth, and that's how it relates to religion.
