"Givin' Up" as written by Daniel Francis Hawkins, Francis Gilles Poullain-patterson, Edwin James Graham and Justin David Hawkins....
My mamma wants to know
Where I'm spending all my dough
Honey, all she does is nag, nag, nag
But I won't apologise
I'd inject into my eyes
If there was nowhere else to stick my skag

All I want is brown
And I'm going into town
Shooting up as soon as I'm back
My friends have got some good shit
All I want is some of it
Gimme, gimme, gimme that smack

Well I've ruined nearly all of my veins
Sticking that fucking shit into my arms

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck

Getting off my face
There's a dragon I must chase
Honey, I'm the scourge of all mankind
And everyone but me
Is destined just to be
Slaves to the remorseless grind

But I found myself an easy way out
Sticking that fucking shit into my arms
Into my arms

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Givin' up, givin' up givin' a fuck

General CommentThe title "Givin' Up" makes perfect sense. When you are addicted to something, you are always toeing the line between trying to quit and just enjoying the release of getting a fix. "Givin' up givin' a fuck" is that feeling of giving up the guilt and getting a fix without "givin a fuck".

It's like when I've been trying to quit smoking for weeks to no avail, and I finally say fuck it. Those guiltless cigarettes are always the best. Also, there are usually a lot more cigarettes when they're guiltless (right after "givin' up givin' a fuck"). So, one might speculate that he overdosed because he decided he was just going to go with his addiction rather than fight it.

Long story short: Addiction is an ebb and flow of trying to quit and "givin' up givin' a fuck".

General CommentAbout heroin. Here's the thing though, the name is givin up, which implies its about him giving up the drugs, but if you pay attention to the lyrics its about how much he loves them. The title is completley irrelevant to the song in every way. Anyway, great tune. About time there was a good modern band. I can only pray these guys get popular, real rock needs to make a come back. LONG LIVE LED ZEPPELIN!

General CommentWell, regarding the song title, I think that the person doing heroin"gives up" on life and finds that the only thing keeping him going is heroin. This band reminds me of a mix between Queen and maybe Led Zeppelin. I love the jump suit he wears at their shows. Great song, actually my favorite song on the album. I don't see them getting too popular unless they come out with some new stuff that hits a little harder but I really like them. And of course. long live Led Zeppelin, and The Who, and The Doors, and Pink Floyd...

General CommentI like this song. The line... There's a dragon i must chase... I'm not quite sure what that means but i think it means when he is high he see's a dragon he must chase. ANd if that is the case then that's funny as... If someone has any other idea as to what that line could mean please tell me. I lack knowledge of the meaning.

General Commentchasing the dragon is slang for a type of smokable heroin. i think this song is about a drug buddy watch his friend giving up on life and dieing on heroin, so hes giving the drug up becoase he cant stand anymore drama
