In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Love me, love me, love me, love me
Say you do
Let me fly away
With you
For my love is like
The wind
And wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Give me more
Than one caress
Satisfy this
Hungriness
Let the wind
Blow through your heart
For wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
You
Touch me
I hear the sound
Of mandolins
You
Kiss me
With your kiss
My life begins
You're spring to me
All things
To me
Don't you know you're
Life itself
Like a leaf clings
To the tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're like creatures
Of the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
You
Touch me
I hear the sound
Of mandolins
You
Kiss me
With your kiss
My life begins
You're spring to me
All things
To me
Don't you know you're
Life itself
Like a leaf clings
To the tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're like creatures
In the wind
And wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Say you do
Let me fly away
With you
For my love is like
The wind
And wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Give me more
Than one caress
Satisfy this
Hungriness
Let the wind
Blow through your heart
For wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
You
Touch me
I hear the sound
Of mandolins
You
Kiss me
With your kiss
My life begins
You're spring to me
All things
To me
Don't you know you're
Life itself
Like a leaf clings
To the tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're like creatures
Of the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
You
Touch me
I hear the sound
Of mandolins
You
Kiss me
With your kiss
My life begins
You're spring to me
All things
To me
Don't you know you're
Life itself
Like a leaf clings
To the tree
Oh my darling,
Cling to me
For we're like creatures
In the wind
And wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind
Wild is the wind

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
No comment yet? Unbelievable... This is such a beautiful song... I think it's about love (kind of obvious..). About a love that feels very strong, but the person who sings it knows, that this love can go wrong.
"Like the leaf clings to the tree, Oh, my darling, cling to me " The leaf is attached to the tree, but can still blow away easily. "For we're like creatures of the wind And wild is the wind Wild is the wind " We are both wild, and we don't know what will become of us in the future.
Maybe... I'm not sure.. Still love the song though...
I want this to be my wedding song when I get married.
I also love this song! bowie gets the balance right, the song is not kitschy, simply beautiful...he creates a special mood in this song that makes it unique! his voice is so fragile and the lyrics simply wonderful
One of THE greatest songs (written) of all time, and Bowie's cover is beautiful. One of my very favorite songs.
This one brings the drama.
Semi crushed to hear Bowie did not write it...it sounds like he could have.
Thematically, it fits the Thin White Duke perfectly. He sang songs of love, yet had no real feelings of his own.
His performance makes you feel the emptiness behind such words.
I understand that Bowie did not write this song, but the passion in his voice and the way he sings it gives me goosebumps every single time I hear it. He's so magical!
A song in my opinion that showcases the power and grace of David Bowie's voice. One of the most beautiful songs I've heard. Emotionally powerful and dramatic. Love it!
"i hear the sound of mandolins"........that line always makes me swoon :)
This song always sounds so mysterious to me. BTW, I do believe this is a cover of a Johnny Mathis song.
@forthelove I thought is was Nina Simone<br />
ok....looks like it WAS originally Johnny Mathis and then Nina Simone covered....you win! :)
"forthelove"-After consulting the inlay of "The Paltinum Collection: David Bowie" the writing credits of this song go to "Dimitri Tiomkin/Ned Washington". Hope that helps.
