You sat me down beside myself
To show me all the reasons I was wrong for you
Was this for real, it's hard to tell
'Cause it was such a beautiful mess we had got into

I'm gonna overcome this
Paper hearts can't win this time
And all along I should have know this
It wasn't your dream, it was mine
I know you wanted me to give up this life to be
Everything I was back when you had the hands my heart was in
I was never good at goodbye

Can I swallow this bottle whole
So this brain in my head can forget your face

When we were starting out
You believed in me without a doubt
You were the finest thing that happened to a boy like me
It's so much harder now
I want to try and tell you how
There is so much love in me
Even though it's hard to see
And I was never good at goodbye

Can I swallow this bottle whole
So this brain in my head can forget your face
Can I swallow this bottle whole
'Cause I'd rather be dead than make more mistakes

Today I couldn't stay awake
Feels like I'm drowning in this firewater lake
I won't be sleeping much tonight
It's not the same without you lying by my side
Right beside me

Can I swallow this bottle whole
So this brain in my head can forget your face
Can I swallow this bottle whole
'Cause I'd rather be dead than make more mistakes

I know you wanted me
To give up my heart to be everything I am
And you're the only thing that I can see
I'm sorry, but you're not the only one for me

You left me here beside myself
Left me with all the reasons I was wrong for you

This song is journey of he’s mind in the time that she’s leaving him. "You sat me down beside myself ; To show me all the reasons I was wrong for you.”

She could not take their relationship anymore; she makes the first move. He's not really paying attention.. He already knows what's all about, so his soul and body aren't at the same place, he just can't believe what's happening. “Was this for real? It's hard to tell 'Cause it was such a beautiful mess we had got into"

He wants to pretend he doesn't care, but he really does, "paper hearts can't win this time". So he wants to get on the top of it and end it soon. "I'm gonna overcome this" before getting heart broken.

He understands that she isn't happy with their relation at this moment, cuz of something he may be doing that he won’t leave and she just can't take it anymore. "And all along I should have known this wasn't your dream, it was mine I know you wanted me to give up this life to be everything I was back when you had the hands my heart was in". The "dream" can be the ban lifestyle or their relation ship or life together, etc..

He just can’t take the brake up, “I was never good at goodbye...”, he feel so bad, that he would be able to swallow a whole bottle of pills, to be anywhere but there thinking about her “So this brain in my head can forget your face”, thinking why or how everything went wrong, thinking that’s his entire fault. He’s just a coward that choose be dead than facing life. “Cause I'd rather be dead than make more mistakes”

They are having the typical couple fight, when one is changing, and she just can trust him anymore, he’s not a saint. “When we were starting out, you believed in me without a doubt”. He admits that she’s has become a big part of him “You were the finest thing to happen to a boy like me. It's so much harder now,” but he doesn’t have the guts or just doesn’t know how to prove her how much he loved her. “I wanna try and tell you how There is so much love in me, even though it's hard to see”

He is falling apart, he can’t even sleep or stay awake he feels likes drowning in hell. (firewater drinks is composed tequila and Habanero pepper). Cuz he knows that won’t be the same without her, but he prefers to take all the reason why she’s leaving him, because he won’t leave his new life style or dreams for her.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
