"World So Cold" as written by Chad L. Gray, Matthew Mcdonough, Greg Tribbett and Ryan Martinie....
When passion's lost and all the trust is gone,
Way too far, for way too long
Children crying, cast out and neglected,
Only in a world so cold, only in a world this cold
Hold the hand of your best friend, look into their eyes,
Then watch them drift away
Some might say, we've done the wrong things,
For way too long, for way too long

Fever inside the storm,
So I'm turning away,
Away from the name
(calling your names)
Away from the stones
(throw sticks and stones)
'Cause I'm through mending the wounds of us

Keep your thorns
'Cause I'm running away,
Away from the games
(fucking head games)
Away from the space
(hate this head space)
The circumstances of a world so cold

Burning whispers, remind me of the days,
I was left alone, in a world this cold
Guilty of the same things, provoked by the cause,
I've left alone, in a world so cold
Fever inside the storm,
So I'm turning away,
Away from the name
(calling your names)
Away from the stones
(throw sticks and stones)
'Cause I'm through mending the wounds of us

Keep your thorns,
'Cause I'm running away,
Away from the games
(fucking head games)
Away from the space
(hate this head space)
The circumstances of a world so cold

I'm flying, I'm flying away,
Away from the names
(calling your names)
Away from the games
(fucking head games)
The circumstances of a world so cold

Why does everyone feel like my enemy,
Don't want any part of depression or darkness, I've had enough,
Sick and tired, bring the sun, or I'm gone, or I'm gone

I'm backing out, I'm no pawn,
No mother-fucking slave to this,
Never lied
Never left
Never lived
Never loved
Never lost
Never hurt
Never worry about being me, or anyone else
Not a care, no concern, don't give a shit about anything,

Backing out, giving up, no mother-fucking slave to this,
Never lied
Never left
Never lived
Never loved
Never lost
Never hurt
Never worry about being me, or anyone else
Not a care, no concern, don't give a shit about anything,

I need to find a darkened corner,
A lightless corner,
Where it's safer and calmer,

I'm turning away,
Away from the name
(calling your names)
Away from the stones
(throw sticks and stones)
'Cause I'm through mending the wounds of us

I'm running away,
Away from the games
(fucking head games)
Away from the space
(hate this head space)
The circumstances of a world so cold

I'm flying, I'm flying away,
Away from the names
(calling your names)
Away from the games
(fucking head games)
The circumstances of a world so cold

General CommentIt means he is tired of caring about the world and its people. His "passion" and "trust" for people is "gone". He gives and gets kicked, and he is tired of tring to be an outgoing and nice person. His only sense of happiness is in being alone and not having anyone to shit on him.

General Commenti dont know why no one has put up anything on this song, there is so much to say. not to mention the fact that the radio almost ruined the song by cutting it down.
i love this song, it reminds me of a time when two of my friends died in a car crash. something that i wont ever forget, this song will help me with that.

General Commentto me, this song is about somebody shutting themself away from the world, but in the process, losing everything and basically saying that they running away and shutting themselves away from their problems. All-in-all, this is by far, Mudvaynes best song ever written!

General CommentChad wrote this song regarding the many things that go around the world and inside one's life. Chad had wrote the lyrics with Matt(the drummer) of course after the 9/11, and some other problems that consisted with Chads life itself. Matt had re-connected the lyrics and finished off with giving taste to the chorus and second bridge. Great song.

General CommentI personally think it's a bit cheesy for Mudvayne..
Good music. Lyrics could improve a little.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not correcting Mudvayne, but the song is really cheesy.

General Commentthis song has gotten me through so many hard times, good and bad things happen i listen to this song, i can relate to it in so many ways and i think what draws everyone to this song is how everyone can relate to this, no matter how happy someone is everyone goes through hard times.

General CommentAs far as I'm aware of, World So Cold portrays Chad's struggles as a child when his parents were divorcing.
    I read it somewhere....

General CommentI would have to say that I'm quite depressed that there are teenie boppers out there that can sing along with the song, but I guess that comes with popularity. Heard this song when the cd came out and it was instantly my 2nd favorite. My idea is that this song is about someone that didn't do anything to anyone and is getting fucked over left and right. They are tired of fixing everything for everyone so said person is running away from everything to be somewhere where they won't be hurt needlessly anymore.

General Commentwow i kinda agree with everyone so far whom has commented im not a mudvayne fan to be point blank about it i have heard this song on the radio and i have read over and thought about the lyrics i do very much agree that just about anyone can relate to this song at some point in their life because everyone in their life has and will face many difficult struggles i dont agree that running is the way to go but i dont think thats an issue its more about helping that person get the anger off their chest at the time and im a firm supporter of getting things off your chest and music is a very great answer to that
