"Shadow of a Man" as written by Chad L. Gray, Matthew Mcdonough, Greg Tribbett and Ryan Martinie....
Mirror mirror upon the wall I'm asking you,
Who is the most confused of them all?
Mirror mirror subservient twin screams back
At me "You".
You sick flawless mime, I want to break you
Yeah, you're a clever one

Is this a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Or just a shadow of a man
A superficial tool, to support the vanity,
Of weak, when you don't love yourself

If life's as painful on your side, I'll break your
Existence and cut through mine
You're a clever one

Is this a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Or just a shadow of a man
Are you my brother, you look like me,
Trapped inside another world my lost twin
A superficial tool, to support the vanity,
Of weak, when you don't love yourself

Mirror upon the wall, am I the reflection
Of you,
Mirror upon the wall, are you staring back
Through
Understanding has no place within my world
On your side

Is this a tool, can I step through, to find
Another plane,
Or just a shadow of a man
Are you my brother, you look like me,
Trapped inside another world my lost twin
Are you a tool, can I step through, to find
another plane,
I'm just a shadow of a man
Just a superficial tool, to support the vanity,
Of weak, when you don't love yourself

General CommentDoes no one kow what this song is about, or does no one care. It's very simple, for a Mudvayne song;] This song is about HATING yourself, wanting to escape your life, and even talking to yourself. (you got that?) Who in this life actually likes themself? Really, this song is about someone who wants to be the reflection that they see in the mirror rather that live their life. They wish that simply breaking the mirror would rid them of all their problems and end their life. Then, they are actually ansering themselves through the mirror, saying "YEAH, you're a cleaver one!" This is a great song, you dislike yourself.

General Commentits a song to question the possibility of an alternate reality you retards...
    > Are you a tool?
    > can i step through
    > To find another plane, or just a shadow of a man
    > Are you my brother, or you look like me
    > Trapped inside another world
    > My lost twin

...the song shows the hatred the person has for the idea that there could be an alternate reality reflected in the mirror and that the reflections reality could be better!

General CommentI somewhat agree with Rapist in a Glass, except I think that the person is angry period, because this life and this world is so crappy, not because there could be an alternate reality.

But dude, you don't have to be such a f*cker. These are lyrics. They are meant to be interperted in many different ways. So, sorry to say but you sound like the retard.

General CommentTo me, this song is about how you would be in a different reality. Asking if you would be how you are, or would you be completely different. And I think durirng the song they keep hinting he is happy with himself so he is curious on how things might be in a different life.

General CommentThis is a simple Man that is probably quite angry at the time, and looks into a mirror. He thinks, and starts to hate his situation, and talks about the image on the mirror having a better life than him, and it makes him mad.

Then he notes that it is just superficial (Meaning nothings there, flat, theres nothing really in the mirror), and slows down and starts basically talking to himself refering to it was a "Shadow of a man".

    ----

To the people that like Fairy Tales and take it as a literal alternate reality ... look at the lyrics...It clearly notes that he is just thinking about himself.
