"Son Et Lumiere" as written by and Omar/bixler Rodriguez....
Clipside of the pinkeye flight
I'm not the percent you think survives
I need sanctuary in the pages of this book
Gestating with all the other rats
Nurse said that my skin will need a graft
I am of pockmarked shapes
The vermin you need to loathe

General Commentwell of course it flows into inertiatic, they were originally one song but universal made them split them up to get more tracks on the album.

"gestating with all the other rats" refers to how he shot up rat poison. its essentially just before he enters his coma/delirium type state in inertiatic.

General CommentThe other rats aren't necessarily drug addicts, but just other comatose patients. One definition of gestation is conception or development of the mind, so it refers to the mental journeys and enlightenment he gains during the coma.

General CommentI think that by "rats" he means drug addicts... And he's gestating with the drug addicts.

General Commenteversio is right..this whole album is dedicted to julio venegas. he was in a coma for 7 days i believe for shooting up rat poison...and then he commited suicide about 2 years ago. and the album is a story that Cedric wrote. and the story is basically julios dream that he had while he was in a coma.. and thus is the basic concept of de-loused in the comatorioum..

General CommentJulio commited suicide way more than 2 years ago, even back in the old At the Drive In days the song Embroglio was written about him, and the lyrics were written more by Omar and and Jeremy Ward (the sound manipulator who unfortanely died last year)
The album is conceptual to Julios comatose and the dreams he had are not real, they are just fantasy writings, very awesome ones at that might i add...
the only factual lyrics in this album are son et lumiere and inertiatiac esp and televators which portrays Julios suicide (he jumped of a bridge), otherwise he is just entering his coma state and his dream adventures are taking place,

General CommentActually...Julio took his mother's morphine and shot it up. He went into a coma, and after he woke, he killed himself.

If you listen, the keyboard sounds like an ambulance, and the violent guitar/drum parts sound like a defibrillator..

Go on song meanings>deloused>book interpretations and look around on the pinned topics to be enlightened on the meaning of this whole album.

Yes the keyboard does resemble an ambulance as CERPIN TAXT is taken to the hospital after shooting up his mother's morphine.

And to settle the argument: 'Gestating with all the other rats' does refer to him laying in the hospital ward with all the other comatose patients.
