"Nettie" as written by and Peter Thomas Steele....
Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

In the dark bathed in Cathode ray blue
Miss Red Hook of 1922
Weeping silently for the pain of others
Every night a tearful rosary
A victim of the curse of empathy
Her reward of compassion is to suffer

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

My short coming I know I caused her grief
Still she loves me. This I can't believe!
Responding not with anger but a prayer
Heaven's just Southwest of Cobbil Hill
True. I am the son of an angel
Maternally, not one woman compares

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

If you fall, I will catch you
When you're lost. I'll be there soon
Far away, but of course near
When you're sad I am always here

Thank you from saving me from myself
Your compassion became its own hell
Unequivocally Beautiful inside and out
Without a doubt

Nettie, no need to cry
Let me wipe those tear drops from your eyes

General CommentYeah, beautiful song. I didn't know the story behind it. Thanks for sharing that, cyberiouse.
I can relate to the lyrics because I know someone who is just like that.

Obviously about his mother. That 'cyberiouse' person needs to stop making up stories about songs and claiming them to be true.

General Commentonce again ike with black no1 i know the exact meaning of this song it is about his ex who he had promised her mother not to actually name in the album because while they were together and actually engaged he didnt let the relationship be known well she had depression problems because she felt for everyone and everything she was overly empathetic towards everything and it finally got the best of her she had gone back home for a short visit with her family and she ended up killing herself and this is his song about her oh and nettie was his nickname for her because the first tiem they met she was wearing fishnets over most of her body
