"Red House" as written by and Hill/wedren/russell/matthews....
There's a red house road
And lies beyond it
Something like a chicken coup
Not sure though
I go overdose
And the ghost of my brain
Goes to yours
And something comes quite clear

Smoke is her name but she'll grow
Can't stop the rain nor the snow, no

Am I talking 'bout
The medicine, the legal thing
You eat when you are sick
Am I falling out
Of sight design beyond the red house road
I move too quick

She's got real big bones
And a gorgeous home
And between her, um
And me there's something quite good I love

Smoke is her name but she'll grow
Can't stop the rain nor the snow
I dream, dream, dream
But don't look
Look, look, look, no I
Dream, dream, dream
But don't look
Love, love, love

She's a buzzing bee
She's a person see
Between you and me
Someone I want bad
But can't have
I'm an overgrown
Little wanting boy
She's my only joy
And covers come between us to clear

Smoke is her name but she'll grow
Can't stop the rain nor the snow
I dream, dream, dream
But don't look
Look, look, look, no I
Dream, dream, dream
But don't look
Look, look, look, no I
Mmm... don't grow

    General CommentThis song is beautiful.

Just reading the lyrics, you don't get a sense their expressivness. The singer using strange, almost broken phrasing, and switching from a normal voice to fallsetto to convey feeling.

    What a fantastic band...

General Commentyeah it's ace man, sounds rather classic with some modern feel to it also, I love the chorus actually more than the verses.

General CommentBeautiful song. As for what it's about, I get the idea from lines like "she's a person see, between you and me, someone I want bad but can't have" and "I dream, dream, dream, but don't look" that it's either about being tempted to cheat on someone or just about unrequited love. "Between you and me" could be someone coming between two people, or just asking someone else to keep his feelings a secret (i.e. "this is just between you and me, but..."). Come to think of it, that last verse seems like the it's most straightforward part of the lyrics, but is still pretty damn cryptic. I kind of like that.

Also, it's "chicken coop", not "chicken coup". The latter actually sort of seems like the kind of obtuse wordplay Craig Wedren *would* throw into a song though (see "fools gold rush in").
